Hey I never tried to act like I know anything about relationships. I've always said and will maintain I'm great at getting women keeping them is a totally different game all together.

I'm cracking up here at DK, who for all of his dislike for feminism as a movement, surely seems to get on extremely well with the independent fierce minded women here. :)

It's not good for anyone, but not everyone is smart enough to see that. Kudos to you.

how many of you men are going to let your wives have a facebook account in her maiden name so that all the blasts from her past can come and find her? pursue her? rival your relationship...that is one of the most common reasons people are on facebook is to be found by others:p

I have no interest in getting married(it's simply not for me), but IF I were to get married than the whole surname thing would be a non-issue for me. She would be entitled to make that choice for herself. I wouldn't force her too. I'm not sure if my opinion matters because I said have no interest in getting married at all. lol

BTW, children wouldn't be a factor because I'm not interested in having them either.

    Let??? Women are not children.

I don't get why a woman would want to talk to guys from the past. That's just asking for a problem.

An anonymous poll in which I would have voted that women should change their surname. I have different reasoning then some of the others, but you brothers are certainly going strong in this.

I think that's not a decision to be made by poll, it's entirely subjective and, legally, up to the woman to decide.

Not if you're with a woman you can trust. I'm still friends with a lot of men from my past, many of whom are happily married (and whose wives have become friends).

If I spent years with someone it probably wasn't because I thought they were assholes. If I liked them as people, chances are I still do.

But the let thing? That I have never understood on either side. I don't think adult spouses "allow" or "let" their partners do something, male or female.

I dislike my name so if I was ever to get married I would change it. I am not getting married so I am stuck with mine unless I change it to something else which would be a waste of paper

No, I was responding to myself that this topic needed a poll, and in this poll I would vote for women to change their name.

I've been way too verbose today, so I will not go into full detail on my thoughts, or how embracing your fathers surname and not your husbands is problematic.

I see marriage as a contract, and I'm such an adamant "heraldist", that if my wife was dead set against changing her name, I would take hers, and give that name to our children. I'll take matriarchy over false equality anyday.

Tell that to your feminist sisters lol.

I don't care how cool we were talking after a break up is just begging for a problem. Why bring unneeded stress into your life. I don't care how secure someone is. Constant contact with a partner you had sex with or had a relationship with is a sure fire way to make me distant from you
