Not if you're in a low income area and all you see is fat people due to low cost unhealthy food and minimal exercise. It begins to become normalized. The problem for bw is they look so far from the popular standard of beauty in terms of facial attributes ie hair texture, skin pigment, and eye color it's easy to associate thinner body types with being white. People look for excuses to ignore the body mass index that will give you a range for what's healthy for your weight height and age. 5'4 and being between 125 and 135 is healthy not 180 even if it looks ok with clothes on. It's interesting how it's only happening here in the US.
Not really surprised myself. I think it can partly attributed to weight gain over time along with peer enablers and a tiny bit of denial. If a man says to his friends "Oh man, I've been eating so much and put on so much weight!" they won't say "No you haven't, you look great!" whereas if a woman says the same thing, they will generally try to make her feel better and tell her she's not fat or that she suits the extra weight, etc. When you glance at yourself in the mirror on a daily basis things like slow weight gain are easy to miss until one day...boom! Who's that fatty in those holiday pi...holy crap it's you! In my experience, a man's friends, family and girlfriend will generally comment if they've gained weight, while a woman's friends and partner will try to save her feelings(can't say the same for family though xP) or spare themselves the hassle and lie even if asked directly. It obviously doesn't help if your peers are also overweight because people tend to justify things in terms of "Well I'm not an alcoholic because John drinks twice as much as me and he's fine!" or "I might not be stick-thin, but I'm not a heifer like Marie." tl;dr: the problem is other people :B

That is silly, clearly overweight women get more shit than overweight men. Just look at this site. there was a study done a while back that showed that men tend to over rate their looks and women tend to under rate their looks..... Edit: in terms of weight.
That's so far from the truth. Overweight people in general normally suffer from low self esteem. Look at any of those weight loss reality shows, both men and women tell their life stories about rejection and not feeling good enough they all start crying waterfalls. I think fat man may appear to have more confidence because if a man wants a woman he HAS to be the aggressor in order to get one. And as far as this site is concerned FG there are not as many overweight guys as there are women and if there is they know the other dudes will lambaste them for posting pics. As I see it fat women usually don't get made fun of directly it's always a general comment about the topic a fat man will because our society doesn't like overweight people and it's ok to make fun of men because we're thought to have no feelings. I am fully, painfully aware that I am overweight. However, I can still do 45 minutes on the elliptical, easily walk 5 miles, AND do the splits. And I still turn heads, but when I lose this 50 lbs I will be smoking hot again .
That is true, I don't argue that. However, that still does not mean that overweight women get more heat than overweight men. They are not mutually exclusive you know. Step away from the bm dating issue for a minute and look at a whole picture. If you look at the business world, an overweight woman have less chances of climbing the ladder as compared to her overweight male colleagues... the "lazy" etc stereotype is more so attributed to overweight women than overweight men, overweight men in business is often seen as pondus men w power. I'm not talking obese here, that is a completely different story for some reason. Besides, take a look how often overweight women get shit on here vs overweight men? Its about 20:1 or higher. Thats just an example... I think most here agree that men are more visually driven than men, therefore......
