    Smooth. Tu es terrible!

So you think black men are emasculated in media? My perception is they're often hypersexualized and dehumanized. As a BM, do you think that's inaccurate?

Haven't read the book, but sounds like a good read that I may have to check out.

    Agreed to disagree. :)

No, she's bisexual. Having sex with a woman does not a lesbian make. Why would she lie about being bisexual? Alice Walker is not a lesbian who's a part of some grand scheme to make sure all BM marry WW. I PROMISE you.

Yes, at times we've been hypersexualized and always dehumanized. In todays times, the goal is to make us asexual or homosexual-ish. That's a new stereotype that's being pushed. The haters like to see the effeminate BM as he poses no threat (to the penis envy haters). This type of BM is not gonna try to be with any attractive female, let alone a WW.

This him hanging around with and being with or bullied by butch looking sistas.

I'm glad people don't think I'm crazy. All you need to is pay attention, do your research and study this stuff.

Spike hits the nail on the head with his comments below. :smt038

Spike Lee had an interview with Ed Gordon on Our World with Black Enterprise scheduled to air this weekend. In the interview he complained about “coonery and buffoonery” and both of Tyler Perry’s shows “Meet the Browns” and “House of Payne,” comparing them to characters from minstrel shows.
“We’ve had this discussion back and forth. When John Singleton [made 'Boyz in the Hood'], people came out to see it. But when he did ‘Rosewood,’ nobody showed up. So a lot of this is on us! You vote with your pocketbook, your wallet. You vote with your time sitting in front of the idiot box, and [Tyler Perry] has a huge audience. We shouldn’t think that Tyler Perry is going to make the same film that I am going to make, or that John Singleton or my cousin Malcolm Lee [would make]. As African-Americans, we’re not one monolithic group, so there is room for all of that. But at the same time, for me, the imaging is troubling and it harkens back to ‘Amos n’ Andy.’”
“Each artist should be allowed to pursue their artistic endeavors, but I still think there is a lot of stuff out today that is coonery and buffoonery. I know it’s making a lot of money and breaking records, but we can do better. … I am a huge basketball fan, and when I watch the games on TNT, I see these two ads for these two shows (Tyler Perry’s “Meet the Browns” and “House of Payne”), and I am scratching my head. We got a black president, and we going back to Mantan Moreland and Sleep ‘n’ Eat?

Tyler's response is devoid of any logic or reason imo.

There is a clear pattern of emasculating BM that is common in our movies and other media. Some of it is obvious but a lot of it is very sly (but becomes obvious if you know what to look for).

BM are dehumanized also, but the dehumanization aspect is on peoples radar as it's easier to spot. A lot of people will adamantly speak out against the stereotypes and dehumanization, but not even notice the rampant emasculation.

Being that you are a single mother yourself didn't you move into that particular area to ensure your kid got free lunches etc? And don't you like men dropping by to bust nuts?

People should check out the film "Bastard out of Carolina" for the flip side of "Precious". There's a reason why Zell Miller squashed that reality show based on white trash being set up in a home in Beverly Hills and he made no apologies for it. And there's a reason why "Who's Your Daddy" and "Moment of Truth" were cancelled as well. Think about it.

karma...lexington...porcelainsnowbird is that you? actually children receive free lunch based on their parents earning potential...lipstick is gainfully employed since the day she turned 16 darlin'...never been without a job/career...i bought a house in this neighborhood because at the time i worked in the city...houses at that time stayed on the market for about 5 minutes...i love my house it is a small red brick bungalow...hardwood floors...fenced yard...the bathroom and kitchen were remodeled already...

my son has not ever received free lunch but i do feed the kids in the neighborhood all the time...my house is safe for them...my son never wants for anything but i try not to overindulge him beyond his group of friends...if you saw the pack he runs with it looks like a united nations group

i actually also employ a couple of people that live in my neighborhood...the man that services my lawn (front yard) i do the back myself...the tree trimming service...my pet sitter...

i chose this neighborhood so that my blue eyed...blonde haired son would grow up in an inner city and learn how to cope in an every changing society...my son is not only getting an education at school but life long lessons of friendships that don't come with dollars and cents attached to them

as for my sex life...well, i'll leave the jacked up bust a nut men to you...you do know that ww get all the good bm...so why in the world would i want you have...no job and too many babies...too many mamas does nothing for lippy...please feel free to keep them to yourself

go ahead and send your kids over porcelain...i'll make sure they get washed up....take them for a haircut and get them some clean clothes that actually fit...let them play some games on the wii and feed them some dinner all while you are getting your hair and nails done...
