True. I didn't wanna have to do it man. But you brought out Flav. lol When Flav comes down, I'll take Jacko down. Can't deny it. Errybody in the Debarge family is musically talented and good lookin. Too bad they're on that shiznit now lol. El Debarge looks terrible ya'll, I won't count him.
Discrimination based upon the lightness or darkness of skin color in the black community is interesting. I didn't know much about it before I moved to the South. My students educated me on the difference between yellow, red-boned, and black. They make fun of each other for having any of these skin tones, incidentally. I have two male friends who have brothers and they both say that they feel their brothers are favored within their family because they are lighter-skinned. Then you hear about skin bleaching a la Michael Jackson but it's on the Tyra Banks show that mothers are doing it to their own children. I like all skin tones of bm. For me, it's about facial attractiveness. Sadly, I've met a few men/women who supposedly like bw/bm but not very dark skin. I think there is a certain amount of racism at work in these situations.
Yeah that is one of the things I like about white women a lot of the features on black guys that would get you teased to the nines in our community like dark skin and big lips, be the same kind that a lot of white women find attractive about us. But a lot of sistas are finding those features attractive, gee I wonder what change their mind. I remember whenever I used to wear my hair out(I got long hair.) and just be wild with it, the sistas where I live used to always tell me I need a perm, why is your hair nappy? My ex(whitegirl) used to always play with my hair when it's out and loved it when I wore my hair like that. BUT NOW!! I get the attention my ex gave me from the sistas.
Shades of color aren't discriminated solely in the black community. That shit has happened in A LOT of communities/workplaces/etc. That's where the phrases "house negro" and "field negro" came from.
Discrimination also happens in other countries like Brazil. Lighter skinned people get treated better. Me I'm dark skinned. I only heard about the prejudice thought. Ive never experienced it.
Light-skinned BM were the standard of beauty in the hood until Rap came along. Jay Z is NOT considered light-skinned because of his features. Light skinned is Rick Fox and Shemar Moore...mulattos or damn near mulattos. Before Hip Hop a Beyonce-type sister wouldn't even speak to a Jay-Z lookin Brother no matter how rich he was..because he couldn't give her "pretty" enough babies. The Beyonce types married thier own cousins to keep from having dark children. 50 Cent looking Brothers were called gorillas and monkeys by light-skinned BW...even the dark-skinned sisters stayed away because they wanted to breed with the lightest mofo they could find. You can tell things have changed...Jay Z is considered light-skinned..lol. Rap came along and smashed our Plantation-based standard of beauty.
50 cent and jay z looking brothers are STILL called gorillas, lol. there's alot of colorism going on int he African American community, like all other communities.I cant even count the number of times ive heard light skin/brown skinned blacks call other dark blacks gorillas, and make fun of their skin tone. things have definitely changed though.Back in the day,it was only the dark skinned bros who would get made fun of in a roasting session and etc Now,light skinned bros get made fun of too the only shade that doesn't really get made fun of are dark brown brothers, because they are in the middle anyway, read up on the "blue vein society".It was a club for light skinned blacks back in the day.It was called the "blue vein society",because if you were light enough to see the blue veins under your forearm, you could join. The whole purpose of the club, was to set up a network between light skinned blacks so they could reproduce with one another and thus, not have to reproduce with a darker skin black, and take a step backward in society. This kinda ties into what you were saying. Same thing with the creoles of Louisiana and their history of discrimination towards dark Blacks.
I agree. Symmetry plays a huge factor. As I view this thread, some of the comments reap jealously, immature, and, lack of experience. The exception to the rule applies to everyone, which is why this form of categorization does not apply to me nor to the girls I’ve dated that stem from all parts of the world. Cheers!
Sorry boys but Jay Z and 50 Cent ARE ugly. If you look like either, then you'll also be needing a rap contract to pull the kind of women you want. If you look like Djimon Housou, then you should have few problems. Once again, handsome is handsome.
Sisters call Djimon Housou a monkey too...big time. Since WW like him..BW will squint..cock their heads and say "yeah..he is kinda cute"
