Watching "Merry Missed Connection" right now & LOL they still casting Andrew Bushnell in these low budget streaming service/TV Christmas & Faith-based IR romcom films. I've NEVER seen him in a movie or TV show outside of these type of films.
Who's Andrew Bushnell? Is he the 'We're Scrooged' guy? I hope so, because if not, then Bushnell bears a striking resemblance to Cuba Gooding, Jr. LOL The prevalence of these IR romcoms on Hallmark/Lifetime, et al, makes me wonder if they know something about their subscriber base demographic that we don't?
The demo is primarily women. All women. Diversity in the demo equals more eyes & money at the end of the day. So if your demo is diverse then cater to that demo with diversity. Only color that matters is the green from them dollars. Just my 2 cents however. #thatcapitalism
Absolutely. I was just pondering if they had data that from which they inferred that they viewership is more supportive of interracial relationships than had been thought heretofore. While the base is primarily women, I think I assumed - rightly or wrongly - that it was mostly white women. That made me think: "are adult/middle-aged white women secretly more open to IR than is commonly believed?"
I personally look at it from the viewpoint of rom-coms are basically fantasy for women. Traditional fantasy has "racial diversity" in the form of fantasy races such as elves, orcs, ogres, sentient dragons & other imaginary races. Same is true with sci-fi. Bigots & racists are the only individuals who get upset when real world racial diversity is inserted into any form of fantasy entertainment.
I was genuinely impressed by how swiftly the panties came off in public. Big shout out to Andre Holland for going where no brother has gone before with Kate Mara on screen.
Trailer for a new Tubi film "Unrequited" starring Flex Alexander & Zulay Henao dropped hours ago: LOL, Zulay Henao is 1 of those actresses that Hollywood stays casting her as the IR love interest of black male characters.
Just discovered this movie on Tubi The Lawn Boy https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1152268/ (trailer here) a lawn boy who catches the eye of an upscale career woman. Together they must endure the pressures from their friends and family; which include his home-boys, his "Cheaters" watching sister, her snooty girlfriends, and her cocktail drinking, snobbish mother an father. Will their love carry them through it all?
It looks like a scripted, poorly acted IR porn movie from 2003. The snobbish mother is a MILF who cheats on the husband, and the snooty girlfriends and home boys are secretly smashing as well.
I'm really reluctant to mention this, but in Black Snake Moan, Rae (Christina Ricci) has sex with a Black guy while her boyfriend is away in the army.
I re-watched Tommy Boy for the umpteenth time and noticed a Black man and a White woman dancing together in the background during the wedding scene.
No, not Sam Jackson, though she does try to sleep with him but he resists. She also rapes a Black teenager but is interrupted by Jackson.
Good grief! I had a sense from the title that it was going to be heavy on the tropes, but that's intense. Was there any purpose behind those plot lines, or was it just for shock value?
Watching Scream VI right now on Paramount+. Chad Meeks-Martin (Mason Gooding) and Tara Carpenter (Jenna Ortega) have some romantic tension. Plus, Gale Weathers (Courtney Cox) was in a relationship with a guy named Brooks (Thomas Cadrot).
