Is anyone, besides me, watching “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” with Donald Glover? If so, what are your thoughts?
Can't get enough of "The Smiths". The series is a perfect blend of humor and adventure with a touch of melancholy. I can't help but think that Donald Glover and Maya Erskine were soulmates in a previous life, considering the intense chemistry they share. I'm crossing my fingers for a well-deserved second season.
I wonder if all the people who bitch about Marvel leaning too much into humor are going to bitch about this or let it ride since Deadpool already leaned into the humorous side?
I'm only on the fifth episode. And, I like everything about it ... except Maya Erksine. Don't get me wrong. She's very talented. And if the show had a white or Asian male lead, I'd have zero problem with her. But, she's just not hot enough for the cultural significance of the show. Let me explain; straight black men never get to be leads in these kinds of projects. We finally get a shot in a sexy, spy thriller with exotic locals and we're given a plain Jane who is assured not to piss off cis-gen white men. Anytime, you have a brotha' in a role like this, he's either gay or his co-lead is usually an average black woman, damaged/blah-looking, unattractive white chick, average Asian or some kind of aiight Latina. It's almost never a hot, top tier, white chick. Almost. Never. White male leads get the hottest romantic co-leads, no matter what they themselves look like. I just feel like ... at what point do black men, in this genre, get to be tha' man in this genre?
The late Sengoku period in Japan serves as the backdrop for Sh?gun, adapted from James Clavell's acclaimed novel.
I’m looking forward to this movie, because we finally are getting the MCU introduction to the X-Men that we’ve been waiting for since Disney bought Fox. I always enjoy marvel humor, however, I am a little concerned about the frequency of the fourth wall breaks. There are far too many in the first two movies, to the point that they actually undermine the story. At a certain point it just becomes a stand-up comedy routine and not a superhero movie.
“Blue Eyed Samurai” on Netflix is really good. Beautiful animation, great story and sweet action. I’m three episodes in and cannot wait until I can sit down and watch the rest unbothered. Between replaying Arkham Knight, “Blue Eyed Samurai”and “Mr & Mrs Smith” my next week or so of free time is going to slap. Plus, my girl is going to visit her folks so I don’t have to share the TV for the next ten days. Shiiiiiiiiieeeeet!!!
New Deadpool Trailer Dethrones Spider-Man: No Way Home Deadpool is slicing his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe — and the record books. The first trailer for “Deadpool and Wolverine,” which debuted Sunday during the Super Bowl, has broken the record for the most-viewed movie trailer within 24 hours with an astounding 365 million total views, per Disney. “Deadpool and Wolverine” hits theaters on July 26 and marks the introduction of Ryan Reynolds‘ R-rated Merc With a Mouth into Disney’s family-friendly Marvel Cinematic Universe. Deadpool, who previously starred in two standalone Fox movies, made fun of Disney in the first bloody, fourth-wall-breaking trailer. Dubbing himself “Marvel Jesus,” Deadpool arrives in the MCU after being kidnapped by the Time Variance Authority, the multiverse managers last seen in “Loki,” and finds himself in the same world as the Avengers. Though his face isn’t seen in the trailer, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine also jumps from the “X-Men” universe into the MCU in the third Deadpool movie. Directed by Shawn Levy, the film also includes Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen.
