Why the surge in gender dysphoria among teenage girls?
Clinics working with children with gender dysphoria issues were seeing a sudden surge of adolescent girls who identified as boys.

In Britain, one well-known gender clinic reports that the majority of its adolescent population, once 50-50, is now overwhelmingly trans-male (female-to-male). What’s going on? Lisa Littman, a doctor and researcher at Brown University, decided to find out. But these are shark-infested waters, as she discovered the hard way. After she published her results, activists released a barrage of protest on social media, and the university quickly distanced itself from her findings.

Dr. Littman describes the condition experienced by these girls as “rapid-onset gender dysphoria" (ROGD).

It develops during or soon after puberty and mainly affects girls with no previous signs of childhood gender dysphoria . According to the study, parents say that many girls do have a history of mental illness, and some are on the autism spectrum.


Dr. Littman’s research..claims that ROGD spreads via social and peer contagion....it’s not uncommon for two or more girls in the same friendship group – or even half of them – to begin to identify as transgender. ROGD also spreads by social media according to Dr. Littman; some parents describe their daughters binge-watching YouTube transition videos.

“It is plausible that online content may encourage vulnerable individuals to believe that nonspecific symptoms and vague feelings should be interpreted as gender dysphoria stemming from a transgender condition,” Dr Littman writes in her research article.

Assuming the statistics are correct and 1 to 3% of teens see themselves as transgender, I mean who cares??
Tomorrow they may say they feel bisexual. Or pansexual. Or a trangender male/female homosexual. These are KIDS who are mostly confused about life in general.

This is an extremely small population regardless, and I don't get this sense of alarm about other people's gender identity and sexuality.

You remind me of people decades ago who tried to enforce sodomy laws and convict adult couples in their own homes for engaging in illegal sex.

No one is going to jail for using the wrong pronoun. This is the gay panic bullshit I'm talking about. No sane DA or judge is going to put someone in jail for using 'he' instead of 'she'. Very few people are sentenced using the extreme end of sentencing guidelines.

Gender dysmorphia didn't begin with Bruce Jenner. It may seem like a fad now but it's been around forever, it's just never been broadly documented before by medical professionals.

That still doesn't justify banning trans people from the military or discriminating against them because they're 'weird'.

I understand someone being curious about this phenomenon, but elevating it to some kind of crisis is ridiculous.

Everyone knows he had an affair with a porn star while his wife was at home pregnant with his child but very few, if any, of his core supporters actually care. The conservative evangelical Christians that put him in office and pretend to care about the sanctity of marriage have completely turned a blind eye to Trump's affairs. In his eyes, Trump can do no wrong.

In hindsight, he could have saved that $130k because his affair was a non-factor in his election.

 

People have all kinds of petty reasons why they vote for a candidate. We all know a lot of black folks didn't give a shit about Obama's policies, they were voting for skin color. Trump embraced petty tribal voting and he rode that wave into office.
