As I have proven to you time and time again, I have criticized as well as praised President Obama, and I am still here Bliss, so your statement is just not true. In my experience most people here will in fact engage in constructive debate if one provides reasonable and fact based evidence for their criticism or their praise, hell Flaming cannot stand President Obama (along with all politicians) and has repeatedly harshly criticized his policies and decisions, yet he is still here as well, nobody has chased him or I off or called us coons, ect. And yet Flaming and I have been able to have constructive, substantive, and illuminating debates on politics and President Obama's performance even though we often disagree.

 

It’s true but it should be possible to engage in a civilised debate on such topics provided people don’t get personal/ take things personally, aren’t totalitarian about issues and don’t engage in the debate with the sole purpose of „winning“ (I.e. beating the other person over the head). If it becomes a personal war I’m out. There’s nothing to gain from it.

At least with me, as l have told you time and again, l gave Obama a political chance for two years ...loved much of what he did. amd said...until the Govt shutdown happened, then the racial pitting of Americans against each other, his increasing personal, political and policy preference for illegals over Americans, his weaponizing the IRS against his opponents, and upon discovering his spting and covert hacking of emails targeting journalists who criticized him. That's when l turned off him. I don't do corrupt leaders.

Yeah. I defended Obama plenty and I still do. The difference is... Look at the BS that was always being spewed about Obama (with plenty from the current POTUS). How about when he allegedly hated America because he didn't have a flag on his lapel? Supposedly he accomplished nothing of significance in 8 years. I didn't even get to the congress who flat out refused to work with him, and stated their intention (including the deliberate obstruction). All that and Obama still managed to always be respectful to others.

It took Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald TWO YEARS to investigate the Valerie Plame/Scooter Libby/CIA leak.
Ken Starr took THREE YEARS to conclude his Whiterwater investigation.
Congress investigated Benghazi for almost a YEAR AND A HALF.

All three ended on evidence they could prove, or not.

The Mueller investigation has only been 9 months and by most estimates it will conclude sometime this spring.

So tell me why conservatives and right wingers are crying about how long the Mueller's investigation is taking??

After his initial comments about very fine people on both sides, he clarified below that he was not talking about the WS or neo nazi's, fine, he *was* talking about the people who were there protesting the removal of the Robert E. Lee statue. He tries to equate Lee with Washington and Jefferson, because they too owned slaves, the BIG difference being that both Washington and Jefferson freed their slaves and argued to end slavery in their states, while Lee fought to preserve it. So imagine if you will Bliss that you were Black for just a moment, and you heard the President refer to people who are protecting the statue of someone who fought to keep you in brutal, hellish, sub human anguish for your entire life, as "very fine people", perhaps if you can take a moment to imagine how you would feel in that moment you could understand the RAGE that we feel in hearing such comments from the leader of the country.

My solution is I’ve been staying away from CNN international which is reducing the daily Trump drama by about 80%. I’ll be tuning back in when Mueller is done with his job. I can’t get into the nitty gritty of the Trump administration on a daily basis.
