ISIS attack in VA (U.S Media silent)

The FBI has launched a terrorism investigation after an alleged extremist attempted to behead a man and stabbed a woman outside an apartment complex in Virginia.

The incident happened on Saturday night in what police in Roanoke are describing as a 'random attack'.

Witnesses said the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Wasil Rafat Farooqui, shouted 'Allahu Akbar' while attempting to decapitate the male victim, who was able to fight off the armed assailant.

According to jail records, the man and woman suffered 'permanent impairment' following the random attack by a suspect who had previously tried to sneak into Syria for terrorist training.

Police arrested Farooqui, a US-born citizen, when he walked into the same hospital as the two victims to seek medical treatment for his own injuries.

The suspect has been charged with two counts of malicious wounding causing permanent impairment according to jail records. He is being held without bond at the Western Virginia Regional Jail.

Seems kind of weak and more likely a beef that got out of control.

 

Just that here's yet another sad and terrible attack on innocent people going about their lives.

I remember when it seemed like these sort of things were always elsewhere. Then, I remember the '93 truck bomb at the World Trade Center garage under the north tower. I was still living in NYC at the time, and I remember that we thought that was the worst day ever. Then, there was the Oklahoma City bombing a few years later. These terrible acts along with numerous mass shootings would sadly almost become the norm.

 

Sometimes you have to sacrifice one to test the waters. Strategy??

 

And that I don't get. How many lone wolf/work place violence attacks make up 1 terrorist attack? Wake up America!!!

 

I don't know if this man is an actual agent of a terror group or not, but the ill-considered execution of the attack, makes me consider the possibility that he is just the latest in a long streak of disturbed people who latch on to a famous/infamous group, person, or ideology to make themselves feel relevant.

 

What strategy? In a country that has a mass shooting every month what's there to test?
