No matter what u say Understated, or how much we want to prove that Black people like all sort of things, well...it doesn`t work...bcoz I really do not know many black guys who would choose to watch the Memorial golf tournament (especially when Woods isn`t playing) or the IRL racing when they have a football game or an NBA game on TV!

Personally I love to see black people swim, watch Nascar (or Formula One,in my case), listen to Jimi Hendrix (who was black!!!!!!!!), play Golf like u, Understated, ice skate like Shani Davis...etc...do all these things that the "white supremacy" had decided were NOT FOR BLACK FOLKS...

And I love when black folks do those things bcoz they like doing them, not bcoz they are trying to mimic white people...

let`s show everyone and ourselves that there is no gene discrimination for those things!!!

 

amen JRem, i do it because I love all those things, even own a chocolate labrador for duck hunting. I love golf and i like Tiger but he is not my favorite, Phil Freddie Couples has always been.

I love watching hockey, esp the sabres and my universities team. I like lacrosse and baseball not basketball. I do love SEC football, but International Football is really my sport.

I dont do it for white people, why would I they are not paying attention or participating with me. I do it becuase I have always done it.

in the rural south there are plenty of blacks that hunt and fish. perhaps not in urban areas or out west but i know tons that do.

golfing not much because of cost and access. my cousins and I have been golfing and playing tennis, horseback riding and sailing since we were kids but thats because we were raised in a certain social class.

too bad most people see it as a white thing or a black thing, its just sport--period, just like music, just like food, just like literature or art. we place such ridiculous racial barriers up, not the activities themselves.

 

was raised upper middle class, I work as social worker as well, but didnt do it for the money, dont need it. worked and taught school in latin america.

You should go to Cameroon...plenty of social work to do, but not as dangerous as in South Africa...I lived in Cameroon when I as a teenager, before moving to Europe...and foreigners are really welcome...I have a good friend who works for the UNHCR and she is going to Cameroon in September...

South Africa is richer, but the ghettos and places where social workers usually operate are poorer and really scary dangerous...

Hey and I really like that goal of being stable financially to give your kids the BEST of environment possible...it is SWEET to hear!

 

i hope you get to South AFrica, that country needs young people committed to help make it better. But those professions dont pay if you are working for money. i am not talking about enough to eat and pay the rent, i mean real money.

believe me, dont wish for giving your kids everything, wish to teach them to share, be giving, kind, have character and integrity. Things only make spoiled brats and this world doesnt need another child like that.

 

Isn't it ironic how there are white people known as rednecks and white trash, but being/acting white is supposedly cultured and sophisticated, but being/acting black is... not?

I guess some people saying this crap must think their paying you a compliment like you've just taken a step up the social ladder or something (as they see it (not me))
