[Disclaimer: I will not engage in further conversation after this post. The purpose of the thread is to understand what your personal thoughts are pertaining to the idea of God. Thus the posters (you) will be the open vessels and share your thoughts to others.]

It goes without saying that much of the world is fascinated with the unknown and the concepts which flourished and inspired through the likes of Rene Descartes and other progenitors of theistic, deistic, and other forms of spiritual (and non-spiritual) ideology. So for all you believers (religious and non-religious alike) and non-believers, I must ask all of you this simple question:

    What Is God?

More specifically, "What is God to YOU?"
In order to "soften" the aggressions on the constructs of belief in God, it's only clear that one must gain a concise understanding through what others convey. So, this should be an important conversation for those who wish to speak out and engage with others on their perceptions. Poll will be included.

I'm anticipating a lot of well-thought out answers from everyone here and hope it all goes well and we can make it meaningful.

NOTE: Instead of polytheism, I meant pantheism. Polytheism is the practice of believing in multiple gods. I apologize for the mix up.

The question, for me, is not "what" but "who?"

For many years, I have pondered the issue of belief, religion, and more specifically, God, however he/she/it is defined...

Without going into a lot of detail here, I'll go on record as one who does not subscribe to the concept of a Supreme Being. Beginning in my youth, when religion was force fed to me, I questioned the doctrine and the inconsistencies without finding answers that satisfied my curiosities, even being labeled a "devil" for daring to ask questions about the existence of "God".

Belief is a matter of choice and I'm comfortable with mine.

To specify, I kind of believe all three of these to different degrees:
A cosmic force which triggered the spark of life.
Everything and anything what we can experience (pantheism).
A label for mankind to satisfy what we lack in knowledge.
And "other" which is the choice I chose.

But I change my mind a lot too. I don't believe God is a "who" or that "God" has a gender, but is more of a what and is a part of everything, even us, because you can't create something without putting some of yourself into it. But also that we can never know for sure and I do think it's also something we humans need psychologically to satisfy what we lack in knowledge or whatever.

    What is God to me???

    Hmmmm, let me see….

He is everything to me; he is the Alpha and the Omega. He is the one and only one who lifted my sorry ass from the loser of society and placed it at the winner circle of society. He picked my dusty loser dependent ass and gave me abundant blessing, now thousands of strangers lives depends on my degenerate ass daily.
He is God of Gods, the Eternal, the Absolute, the one who can part the sea, move a mountain, and put out a fire. My life is a testimony!!!!!!

God is the part of us that does interract with thoughts or emotions. It is beyond mind. when you're tired of illusory life, pleasures that come & go. then you are ready to reunite with the infinite god that you once were.

As far as I'm concerned, Lucifer is as mythical as the Joker. What I was getting at is that I don't wait around for a giant man in the sky to make my destiny. I have to go out and do what I must do. And at the end of the day, so must those who are adherents of religion.

I admire your belief, seriously and honestly. I am one of the lost ones. I only know that if I don't safe my ass myself- nobody will do. I've seen so much misery that I could cry till the end of my life . And many times I am losing my belief in anything, just don't want to see and hear nothing and nobody anymore. There are certain moments, where I see a star in that never ending darkness, some hope, but honestly I am very angry about our good God. The reason, why I cannot and don't want to believe in his existence.
