Yahoo admits that information associated with at least 500 million user accounts was stolen

Information may have included names, emails, phone numbers, hashed passwords and even encrypted security questions

Company described the hacker as a 'state-sponsored' actor

The information was stolen from the network in late 2014

Yahoo! Inc's share prices immediately dropped upon the confirmation

A cyber criminal known as Peace is alle
gedly selling the data for just 3 bitcoin, or around $1,860, according to Motherboard

It said that account information affected could include names, email addresses, phone numbers, birthdays, hashed passwords and encrypted or unencrypted security questions and answers.

Yahoo has recommended that users change their passwords as soon as possible, and use alternate methods of account verification.

Just one more reason to never sign up for a Yahoo email account.

Sometimes I wonder if this isn't a next generation form of corporate espionage???:(

That said, there is NO excuse for a tech company like Yahoo to be vulnerable to this kind of cyber security breach.

I'm really trying to eliminate my 'hard' internet footprint whenever possible; purchases, use of government websites, bank transactions, etc.

LOL. I'm still that dude that withdraws a wad from the bank and pays for everything in CASH.

SO funny how a company that has loop holes for the nsa also has loopholes for hackers.... almost as if you should always have tight security no matter who is asking for information.
