Has anyone read that Men's magazine from Oz called RALPH? It has pix of lots of Aussie babes.

  6. I work very closely with indigenous Australians (in far north queensland) and can confidently say there is a huge difference. The only similarity is dark skin color. Indigenous Australians are quite newly civilized also, some still live in communities where they have never even mixed with people outside their family.

I met this girl from Australia through a friend 2 summers ago. She was visiting as a PhD student. She was real friendly, very attractive and quite into me. We regularly went out to bars and dancing with friends, she was perfect gf material - smart, cute and down-to-earth. The accent was the clincher for me, as well. The downside was that she was already engaged to someone else in Australia - which I found out just before she left back for Australia. I never pursued anything for obvious reasons, but I get the feeling that she wouldn't mind having a tryst with me. When we used to hang out she would clutch my arm and rub against me as if we were an item. She would always hang around me and smile. I wouldn't mind if it weren't for her fiance being present on one occasion. This made me uncomfortable. Other dudes would not give it a second thought to sleep with an engaged woman but I just couldn't do it. Damn conscience. :-(.

Funny story, she visited again last summer and before she left she asked my friend if I was gay, since I wasn't too receptive to her. My friend laughed and assured her I wasn't. I dunno. My dating life is awkward like that sometimes. :smt102

atleast you showed respect for her and yourself.

It was an honourable thing that you respected her and yourself enough not to take it further, unfortunately for her she was engaged to someone else, maybe her loss. She did sound like a nice girl other than the whole engagement thing, I believe honesty is the best policy and sadly enough she did not. We are not all like that I will assure you. I am sure that if it wasn't for her engagement she would have gone for you in a big way. :)

Oh without a doubt we would've dated if circumstances were different. My friend even suggested that if it wasn't for her relationship we would've been dating. Her fiance definitely lucked out and I'm sure he knows that.

    Hey justanotherbrotherlover,

I am from Brisbane and am coming home afer 8 months of travel soon. Is there any work up in FNQ? I would love to do something up in the area, and with indigenous australians. I am qualified, but not in a specifically related field (there are probably jobs related to my degree up there, but not specifically aboriginal affairs, or anything like that). I was going to try the NT, but would prefer to stay in Qld, if I could. Any contract work? I'm looking around for stuff, and would like a change from Brisbane. Are you in Weipa? or a community?
    Cheers for the info.

  13. Hi hi... I am in cairns... You dont need any degrees to work in north queensland! lol. Maybe you could look in to indigenous social work or something. I work in hospitals, just in admin but work closely with getting people down for treatment from the communities and housing etc.

    Justanotherbrotherlover...
Ok, thanks for the tip. I might just look into that. Can't stomach going back to Brissy so soon. Looking for a change of scenery. :)
Hope the weather is treating you well. I'm in England atm. it's in the minuses here. freezing! :) Glad to be missing the heat though.

FWIW, i think aussie accents are terrible, but you can all tell me they're great :)

  19. Weather is typical right now, HOT and HUMID! Stormy all the time but I can bear it, at least it is warm. I agree with you about the Aussie accents! Wish we sounded at least a little articulate!! haha
