True. The Bears management has never drafted on the best player available philosophy, but Tony, i'm not so sure that philosophy works all the time. Look at Detroit for example. Each year a big shot receiver came out of College, they drafted him. They had no need for more receivers, but those were the best players available at the time. I think that set their franchise back for years. Instead of drafting the best players available, i think you should draft players that fit into your "system." It's what New England, and Pittsburgh do.

The good thing about Jay coming to Chicago is the fact that he will be treated like a Rockstar. Everybody in the state of Illinois is celebrating over this, because like i said, the guy instantly becomes one of the top Bear passers of all-time, and he hasn't even taken a snap yet. That's how bad our history of qb's has been, and that's why we'll take the baggage, as long as he produces. Brandon Marshall is a huge target, and that's why i feel as though we'll use our second round pick on a receiver with similar size.

I'm not even concerned about Jay and the offense though. I'm more concerned about the defense, and if they can return to previous form.

hmm... and Detroit didn't make any offers to Cutler.. sigh.. I guess they're still going with Culpepper mentoring Matt Stafford (unless Staff pulls a 180 and balks at going to Detroit)...

The league should really look into implementing a rookie salary cap. No teams are interested in paying the number 1 overall pick 70 million dollars without even showing they're capable of producing yet. It's why the Broncos didn't want Detroit's number 1 overall pick. If there was a rookie salary cap, there's no doubt in my mind, Cutler would be a Lion right now.

The Bears are going to find out rather quickly if Cutler is over-rated.
If it was Shanahan's scheme, if it was Denver's wide outs, if it was Denver's front line. His stats mirrored Jason Campbell's and Campbell did not have the wide outs or front line like Denver...

You are such a Grossman fanatic!!!

What the Bears need is a new defense, new coaches, receivers who can actually catch a ball....:smt042

The QB position was the least of our problems!

Grossman is my boy! The reason why i like Cutler so much is because his game resembles Rex's game. Cutler is a bigger, more mobile, more accurate version of Rex. Even the interception numbers are similar.

Lovie and Angelo made up for the benching of Grossman in favor of the bum Orton, by trading for Cutler. How much do you wanna bet, Kyle Orton will not last an entire season in Denver? Once the fans realize he has a noodle for an arm, and won't be able to hit Marshall & Royal deep, they're gonna have him yanked. Oh, and they'll also realize that Kyle Orton is incapable of leading a team from behind. Denver has a really bad defense, and Kyle will need to score points. Too bad his specialty is getting the team in field goal range, instead of scoring actual touchdowns.:smt042

Incapable? Incapable? I'm sorry, but WHO got the Bears to the playoffs in his rookie year?? And then WHO took over and fucked it all up? Oh, that's right, the fucking up part would be on REX'S shoulders!!!

If Cutler's game is like Rex's, we're in serious trouble. Rex lost us 15-20 yards every time he got sacked, which was quite often.

    :p

Now Bookworm, you of all people should know that the Bears were a few Kyle Orton idiotic mistakes, and a few defensive breakdowns away from going to the playoffs last year. We finished 9-7, which is hardly the indication of a team that needs to completely rebuild. We shored up the quarterback position, and purged it of mediocrity, and we solidified the offensive line. The only thing that remains a question mark is the play of the receivers, and the play of the defensive secondary. If we sign Holt, that will take care of the receivers part. Only time will tell if our defense can get their act together.

We need a defense that can stop the other team from running past them!!

Oh and receivers who can catch a ball and keep it would be all good, too! :smt023

Oh, the irony.:p People who say Rex didn't lead the team to the Superbowl, are ironically the same people who claim Kyle Orton led the Bears to the playoffs. If the defense led Rex to the Super Bowl, then the same has to be said for Orton. I'll even give you some stats to prove it. In the year Kyle Orton went 11-5 and the Bears made the playoffs, his stats were:

    9 touchdowns
    13 interceptions
    30 sacks
    59.7 quarterback rating

Now, tell me again how Kyle Orton led the team to the playoffs when he had stats like this?:p

Oh, and let's not forget his infamous game against Cincinnati, when he threw FIVE INTERCEPTIONS! :p

Oh, we sure do! The defense played horrible football last year. They couldn't tackle. And yes, Rashied Davis has brick hands, and couldn't catch a cold. Hopefully he gets cut.:p

At least we have Matt Forte. :D

We sure do. Matt Forte is a bonafide stud. I'm predicting pro bowl for him this year, and a breakout season for Devin Hester and Greg Olsen. :p

I won't talk about all of the fumbled snaps that Rex Grossman has under his belt. :p

Devin Hester is a marked man. I don't know that he's effective anymore. And he keeps running backwards!!! He needs to stop that STAT! LOL.

Greg Olsen - I agree. He's going to be an asset to them as well.
