I always think what can I do because I'm the only one who HAS to protect me. I can't count on some police car rolling up at the last minute or a good Samaritan stepping in. I'm the only one responsible for the safety of my body. It's terribly unfair and it's not right but it's our reality right now

Everybody has to take care of themselves the best way they know how, no one's arguing that. But there's a difference here, in that there's a blame game that goes on that's pure bs.

Now that this thread has taken on the victimization theme in regards to rape and DV and it got we wondering.

No, I am not taking away from the plight of women that has been discussed so Feminist hold your guns.

How do the ladies that have responded feel about the countless number of young men that are being molested in our school systems by their female teachers.

Are those young men victims, I have heard from some men and women that they are not victims but rather lucky young men to have had the chance to bang a hot teacher.... and some not so hot IMO.

Would the same punishment be allotted to male teachers that molest young female students.

    http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=39783

What about the Domestic Violence that women commit towards their mates that does not get reported and violent acts against their own children.

Not taking light of this thread by any means but as a survivor of Domestic Violence and loosing a sister at the hands of DV I think we all need to stop looking at things from a gender specific side and address the real problem in our society, people are hurting one another and if we were to really delve into the situation I would bet that it's more equal than we would care to believe.

The incarceration rate for women has increased exponentially over the past few decades at a rate that is quite alarming, families are in disarray, the marriage rates in America are on the decline while divorce rates are increasing, OW Births are on the rise as well. I can only assume that feminist crap is working..... bring on Wave 3!

I personally cannot wait to see after the microscope has been lifted off of same sex marriages the stats on domestic problems those marriages face.. DV, Divorce rates etc.. speaking of which... when gays divorce.... who pays who alimony? :D

We have a whole thread for this discussion. No one should be molesting young people in their charge, gender is irrelevant.

No one should be committing domestic violence or child abuse. Gender is irrelevant

(And no one has mentioned DV in this thread until you hijacked it).

In point of fact, the entire discussion as regards alimony was also without gender. Alimony, which is fairly rare to begin with (I personally dont know anyone who has received it, except the husband of one friend)

It's incredibly not enlightening to say "I bet women are more violent that we'd like to believe" because that is dependent not on facts and figures but on what each individual is predisposed to believe.

Well, the majority of the women incarcerated at present are on minor drug charges - many of them swept up when men in their lives are being prosecuted (which is not to say the women are not guilty - or that the drug laws are correct, which in my perspective they surely are not).

There are already plenty of studies on domestic violence in gay marriage. Googling Domestic Violence in Gay and Lesbian Relationships yields 1,990,000 results, both data and resources for victims Domestic Violence in Gay and Lesbian Relationships As to who pays alimony - gender is irrelevant, it's income and experience which come into play. The state with the lowest divorce rate in the nation is Massachusetts. Whether the fact that it was the first to legalize gay marriage plays into that at all, I have not researched, but I do know that it's true MA has the lowest divorce rate in the nation

    * Hmm intersting to know, then it behooves a person to have a pre nup that is rock solid before entering into a relationshit! I wonder if Sir Paul, Mike Strahan and countless other men that have been duped out of their financial gains had one!

    Oh.. and you mentioned MA!!

    Alimony horror stories

    Massachusetts

    http://www.massalimonyreform.org/horror_stories.html

" Businessman fallen on hard times in jail for 90-days, Sept. 8 – Dec. 7, 2008. Must pay $900,000 alimony arrears. Before jail, his salary was $48,000 a year. While in jail his company went out of business. Essex County.

A once wealthy businessman who must pay his ex-wife $200,000+ per year for life in their no-fault divorce, saw that his investment business was failing in 2003 and alerted the exwife to the decline in his income. He had to lay off two sons who worked for him.

He returned to court in 2003, hoping to reduce his alimony payments. This was denied. He continued to pay what he could, sometimes $100,000 per year.

His able-bodied ex-wife, who divorced at age 47, has never been ordered to work and since the divorce in 1995 has received $2.2 million in alimony.

In the judge’s final decision in 2008, he refused to lower the man’s payments, even though his business had completely failed by 2007. The judge refused to accept the veracity of his audited tax returns, showing that his income is now $48,000, although he was not charged with tax fraud. The judge did not accept the testimony of his grown sons who had worked for him, finding them “not credible” witnesses.

The judge ordered that his passport be revoked and that he sign a statement requiring that every penny he makes, including from a tax refund, must be paid to his ex-wife until his debt of $900,000 is paid.

On Sept. 8, 2008, he was sentenced to jail for 90 days, for not paying $250,000 toward alimony arrears of $900,000. Until he went to jail on Sept. 8, he was giving his entire takehome pay to his ex-wife, and providing her with health insurance. His ex-wife has received no alimony and no health insurance since the man’s imprisonment.

The judge continues to believe that the man makes $500,000 a year and must continue paying his ex-wife more than $200,000 per year in alimony, even though he has no income in jail and the longer he spends in jail, the less likely employment opportunities will be available to him.

He has a new wife of 13 years and 2 small children whose lives have been shattered. His three grown children from his former marriage are caught in the middle of their parents’ unending legal problems.

His appeals have been denied, including to the Supreme Judicial Court, and if he is released from jail in December, he may be served with papers for the same debts and resentenced for more than 2 years"

    Florida
    http://www.floridaalimonyreform.com/horror-stories

"Illinois truck driver’s wife moves to Florida to exploit its lifetime alimony laws – and returns with children to Illinois after divorce. Ex-husband has income imputed to him on rental units with no income; forced to acquire $150,000 in debt to family and IRS, and has barely seen his 3 children in 7 years. 16-year marriage. Orange County. 2005.

“My ex preplanned a divorce in Florida (from Illinois), knowing of the alimony lottery there. At the first hearing of 45-minutes, I was ordered to pay 70% of pretax earnings in temporary alimony and child support without any documentation. The judge gave the wife all control and income over 33 Florida rental units, while allowing her to relocate 1200 miles away to Illinois with my 3 children. I have only seen them a handful of hours in 7 years.

“Everything I had built in 50 years was taken away in less than an hour, followed by 4 years of litigation, and I had to pay her fees -- $40,000. Later I was imputed $1200/month income on the 10 non-producing rental units I ended up with. The $960/mo permanent alimony is somewhat tolerable at the moment. However, I face a lifetime of privacy invasion when she wants more. At no risk to her! I'll be ordered to pay her attorney fees.

At present, I owe $75,000 to my father and back taxes of $68,000, growing at about $500 a month in penalties and interest. I have paid $40,000 in her attorney fees. I have paid $90,000 on my side.

I'm a truck driver! It would be so easy to end this nightmare in a fiery ball of flames on the highway some night.”"

    * Check the sig line* ;)

Feminazi, because wanting equality without regard to gender is JUST LIKE invading Poland.

The rest, I'm not responding to because there's way too much BS and attitude involved. You've deliberately misread, or read into, statements I made to suit your agenda. That's cool. It's your agenda. Don't know why every thread has to be about how much you dislike women, or the way you think things in the system are stacked against you. If you don't like the system work to CHANGE it. That's what I've spent the last 35 years doing.

As for checking your signature? You're quite right and there's a simple answer. Wear a condom.

In one thread, the concept of indefinite alimony is defended then morphs into a rape/victimhood thread (i.e. the financial rape of a male is turned into the physical rape of a female)

In another thread, though, a wife isn't even obligated to take her husband's name.

Me too, Dreaming Blue. Some of these guys have caveman views about women and the world in general, then they whine about being alone. It's not exactly rocket science, is it? :smt026

Funny but try seeking a woman's views about paying alimony or is it palimony for men and you would hear the hisses and vicious comments which will be made here. Most often than not if a rich woman is marrying a poor man and in this case black, her friends will urge her to have a pre-nup telling her, the guy would take advantage of her .Fact of the matter is nobody likes paying alimony with a smile on his or her face.
