    Is anybody watching this?

I hope Henin wins. Not sure for men, even though we know who wins lol.

I caught some of the Henin/Williams match. It always amazes me when Venus or Serena loses, just b/c they are so intimidating physically. Obviously they are also smart players, but if I was standing on the other side of the net and just looking at them, well, I might just have to go sit quietly in my corner!

Lol yeah I know what you mean, especially also the noises they make! I think Henin is better tho, some of her points are so nice to watch, very stylish, not just hitting powerfully.
Same as Federer. He has to be the best sportsman at his sport in the world? Cant think of anyone else who is so much better than the rest. Unless there is an American sportsman,

I think Tiger Woods has, at times, easily been more superior to his competition...

As dominant as Tiger Woods has been in Golf, he has never been as dominant as Federer IS in Tennis...think about it, he has been in the last 8 Grand slam finals, losing three of them only to the same guy (Nadal, at the French)...10 grand Slams wins overall and he is only 25...which means more to come!!! the man is simply AMAZING!!!

I hope Venus WILLIAMS wins Wimbledon...Henin is great, but I'm a big Venus fan...sorry Sup!! :)
I was so happy when Venus demolished pretty screaming baby Sharapova...aaah

Yeah I thought that maybe at first when thinking of people to compare but I really dont think he does when I actually thought about it.

    Majors

    Tiger = 12 majors in 10 years.

Roger = 10 majors in 5 years (may aswell call it 11 after wimbledon 07 in a few days)

No way is that near as good

Federer on now vs Juan Carlos Ferrero, awesome match so far.

I agree, Federer is, not only the best tennis player in the world, but simply the best individual athlete (sorry Lebron and Ronaldinho fans). Think about this stat, the guy hasn't lost a Wimbledon game since 2002. I don't recall any athlete in any major sport going to a major tournament on a five-year winning streak. (Although it must be pointed out that individual accolades are easier to retain than team ones). Federer has beaten virtually every contemporary male tennis player who is up the ranks. Quite frankly, he has nothing left to prove in the game.

I honestly believe that it's somewhat difficult and inane to compare Tiger and Federer because both their sports require aesthetically different qualities.

Anyway, i've been following the Wimbledon religiously since i was a kid and this year has been no exception to the showcase of talent that the annual event gears up to. Venus Williams has been brilliant this series and whilst not as dominant as she once was, has been phenomenal. If she gets it together, she can walk away with a smile on her face this year. I honestly believe she can beat Bartoli in the finals.

I couldn't believe Amelie Mauresmo lost to Vaidisova. Not a knock on Vaidisova, but on her best day, Mauresmo is the best female player on the planet, IMO.

On the men's side, I expected Andy Roddick to advance to the finals but i guess this is not his year. He's been great too but no matter who advances to the Finals, Federer is winning it -yet again.

I agree with most of that Cris.

However, I think Federer does have something to prove because Nadal is still the best at Roland Garros, until Federer wins the French open he will feel he didnt complete his career.

Also I think Henin and Serena Williams are better than Mauresmo, only have to compare their major wins and consider than Mauresmo is 3 or so years older aswell.

Anyway it has finished now and well done to Nadal, at one point I thought he was even going to win. What a match..well done Federer.

Have we already forgotten that Venus Williams WON Wimbledon??? Her 4th title since 2000. If ya'll go back and look, since '99, the Williams' sisters have dominated on grass with the exception of Davenport and Sharapova (my girl - sorry). After dispatching Maria, she went on to beat Kutznescova and Ivanovic (like her too) on her way to beating a suprising Bartoli. Venus rediscovered her grass game after starting the first three rounds a bit shaky and tenative. If you ask me it's like one of the announcers said. She forgot her grass game somewhere but rediscovered it just in time. She's a great athlete and still in great shape at 27. Hope she does well at the U.S. Open.

I'm glad Venus won. She and her sister Serena will rule Wimbledon for a long time to come. Others like Zina Garrioson and Dr. J's daughter would not hold a candle to them. It was pleasing Ms. Gibson lived to see the sisters win in her lifetime. Washington and Blake tried to get like Ashe but didn't have the drive.

Hhmm I dont know...there are others who can beat them, and (especially) venus, are getting older. Their best days are behind them I think.

Agreed, Sup. They're getting older, plus they've suffered too many injuries to consistently dominate tournaments like they did.
