Some people are just curious. Often people will ask your race so that they can put you into a box. If your racial identity appears to be somewhat ambiguous, others seek to obtain a classification for you so that they can tuck you into a neat hole and make themselves more comfortable.

I don't care what color you are or where you are from be proud of who you are.

I met a guy the other day, he looked black (brown skin, not very light) while we talked he said he would not date a black girl. For some reason he said "people always think i'm black" my reply was "well you have alot of black in your blood" I was shocked when he got ill and said "No I don't, I'm 1/4 German, 1/4 Italian and my mom is from Brazil" I said well there is alot of Black people in Brazil" he said "well I don't have any of that in me" as we talked more he frowned on me for saying "I date and I don't care what color my man as long as I enjoy being with him" OMG He didn't like that & I'm not big on quotes but Icame straight out with Dr. King by saying not to judge by the color of the skin, but by the content of their character. I think we both left pretty ill, I can say we will not go on another date. LOL

I'm sorry if I was wrong to but I laughed all the way home while talking about it one the phone. This man had kinky hair and a nose like I have never seen on any white person. LMAO

 

My family is Turkish and they range in looks from Middle Eastern to Mediterranean to Arab to Latino to Caucasian, but two cousins in particular have Asiatic eyes. One looks really Asian cause she has black hair and has that yellow tone to her complexion. She and the other cousin have sons and when their kids were younger, they looked like they were all brothers. The one who doesn't look as Asian had two blonde daughters and it's funny cause they have those eyes with that color hair. The very Asian one and one of her sons get asked if they're Chinese (funny how everyone gets "Chinese" and not any other Asian ethnicities...lol Ahh, the ignorance) all the time. Not far fetched in my familys case, but it's definitely the Mongolian coming out and Turkey IS an "Asian" Minor country.

I am originally from that part of the world. The Spanish/Portuguese culture sees race differently to the English/American culture. In the Spanish/Portuguese culture, that small part of European blood in a person counts far more than that the non European part so that person is in denial of the non European part. Remember Sammy Sosa? In the English culture, a person with a high portion of European blood and an insignificant amount of non European blood is not considered European. Your ex date really is in for a culture shock. Maybe, he would do a Michael Jackson. LOL.
