its not, to me , or its not the most important thing to me thats why i can love people of other heritages with ease.
I actually think the downfall of Black America is because most of us have no idea about our family heritage. We don't know who we are or where we come from. We are just here. I think having traditions and culture passed from generation to generation creates stability and pride.
White America is as strong as ever. Truthfully the coporations are anyway. They got us distracted with race while they fuck us. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain focus on the big floating head that ain't real. We truly are nothing but batteries stuck in the matrix
I want my kids to know the lines of their ancestry and the stories. I did not find out the remarkable things my grandfather did until his death and I want my children to know of him and what he stood for.
Agreed! Racism is big business. After the reconstruction era in the south, poor whites and poor blacks started to form coalitions to better their social conditions. Once the groups started to solidify, the system of Jim Crow was instituted to prevent poor people from attacking the power structure. Dr. King once mentioned that the system of Jim Crow made poor whites forget that they were poor. Racism is destructive in so many ways.
We only seem to hear buzz words like "pride" and "heritage" when it's a question of BM/WW intermarriage/relationships. Are BW who marry WM running away from their heritage?
lippy agrees with you and quite frankly it is up to us to make sure that the story is told...we unfortunately live in a disposable society...recently my dad put together for myself and my brothers and sisters a family tree of information on our bloodlines...country of origin...basically the recipe for american of european decent mutts...he did it for my mom's side of the family as well and had he not done that...i would not have the information...i am very grateful...
I'm investigating my family tree as we speak and I'm surprised to find that I have a diverse ethnic heritage. I had to rethink race relations.
My cousin did it and I was pleased to see who came from where when she shared it. I bet you loved what your dad did.
