gilbert arenas basically stated "people will watch the wnba if the women were better looking" do you agree? do you watch women's sports? the breakfast clubs discusses and you can post your thoughts.
Exactly why are we watching women sports to look at the way they look in their uniform or how they wear their hair etc. Real sports fans watch sports for the sport
The game isn't about looks, it's about skill. I think that is something Gilbert Arenas doesn't understand. However, just going by the way other female athletes are marketed, it isn't wrong to extrapolate that, more sex appeal would boost interest. Whether it's right or wrong, women's looks always play a factor.
I could give a fuck about her looks. Besides, if it were simply about looks I would watch pretty much any volleyball game. If she looks fine as hell, but has no dribbling skills, can't jump shoot or dunk, I don't wanna fucking watch it.
No, because they don't alley oop and dunk. Where are the female players like Steph Curry or Reggie Miller? When they play like that, I will watch it. Even the NBA evolved to where it is today. It took more than 50 years to get here. WNBA will evolve and get better, even if it happens at a slower pace.
This from the nimrod (as much as I liked to watch him play) who screwed up his career playing with a handgun. This. I'd like to see Arenas say that to the US Women's National Team in soccer.
We live in a superficial world, as ignorant as it may sound he does have a point, to a degree at least. Look at news anchors, the men can be old and crusty but the women always have to look like done up (especially telemundo, I bet they hire backpage strippers lol) . Music too, female artist always have to look at least 7~10 range, 6 if you're desperate and have a good make up team. Males can look anywhere between 0~10. (there are some notable exceptions though, Trina's got that Forest Whitaker lazy eye, she has a nice ass, but that eye:smt030) Let's not forget about actors, Ed O'Neill with Sofia Veragara on Modern Family, George Lopez with Constance Marie on the George Lopez Show, Kevin James in any show/movie he's ever cast in. The list goes on. I'm sure they'd see a minor increase in views if they exclusively recruited vixens. but even still no one would really tune in. I believe the WNBA isn't viewed heavily for the same reason TDK mentioned and the same reason LA doesn't watch it: they don't do what the men in the NBA can do. If the WNBA players were more dynamic on the court, maybe more people would watch them play.
