Yep. A whole new series that would hopefully have the same following and longevity.

I've said it before (because this topic is old), but I do not want to see a black James Bond. James Bond is white.

I agree with goodlove, orejon and iggy, a new franchise with a black leading man would be much better.

If they did that, then people would probably deem as a black Bond rip off and say that it wouldn't could a candle to the Bond franchise. Would it be good as Bond, if not, better? I doubt it, but who knows.

Maybe, but there are lots of secret agent movies, so I don't really think it would matter that much. There's plenty of room for more and as a seperate franchise you would hope that (who ever made it, if it got made) they wouldn't just try to copy Bond. As long as it was fresh and the writing and directing was great I think people would accept it.

Colin Salmon already played the role of James Bond on a UK TV Series based on the 007 series. So, the idea of a black James Bond isn't all that far fetched at all. Besides, though Ian Fleming never envisioned an Euro-African playing the role of the titular character, the books never explicitly stated his ethnicity. Only the nationality of being British.

Beyond that, it's pretty much fair game. Weird though, the most popular James Bond happens to be a Scotsman. Furthermore, even Daniel Craig said that we're ready for a black James Bond.

As for who would do the job well? Idris Ebla would be a perfect contender. He has all the criteria of being 007. The question is...would be more of the romantic person first, or someone with a highly serious attitude (a la Daniel Craig)? That would be more of a worthy consideration.

I never read the books, but I think I've always considered James Bond as more English than white, per se. If a German-accented guy said he was James Bond, it wouldn't work for me. I've always envisioned him as the Queen's Man in (insert city or foreign locale). I think it would be easier for me to see him as a black English Bond than a white guy of any other nationality.

I think he would be perfect.

Course I would love to see Morris, but I think he may be a bit too muscly imo for the role.
