Who here believes the attacks on 9/11 was an inside job?

I have some friends that believe the goverment was behind the attacks. They(the 9/11 Truthers that is)say that it is not possible that the jet fuel made the towers collapse. They said it had to me a controlled demolition. Mainly because of building 7. I don't believe in the conspiracy theories myself(I'm not a conspiracy theorist), but it does make me think. You can read about it here on wikipedia(of course not the most reliable source):http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9/11_conspiracy_theories

Here is a recent article on it:http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/09/11/national/main20104377.shtml

Here are a couple of videos about it:

I want to get all your opinions on it. I think it's crazy. The US government does lie, but I think they are willing to go as far as that.

I think it's bunk, and I base that on having done some actual research on the science involved.

I am no fan of the government, but they aren't that evil. Or that effective.

I agree. I'm not a fan of the goverment either. I also think it's giving Bush, Cheney, and the rest of the government too much credit. The government can't even fix the economy. Even if the conspiracies were true, I assume it would take alot of manpower to get all that done. They would have to cover up and pull off something that massive and reprehensible. There would be alot of people they would have to keep quiet about it.

I'm atheist and I have atheist friends that believe in the conspiracies and they say as atheists we shouldn't believe the official story and be skeptical about it and not turn a blind eye. That we should use logic and reason. I'm all for being skeptical, but to spew conspiracy theories too?

The hard thing about this was Bush and his team ignored Clinton's men on the warnings of Bin Laden on Aug, 2001. It is still a bit strange no Air Force jet had followed those planes from Boston to New York. Anyway,it would be hard to prove.

I say it's bullshit. Damn conspiracy theorists are making an industry out of this shit.

Atheism =/= nutball. Conspiracy theories about the government and lack of belief in deity are about as much the same as apples and snowshovels.

The conspiracy would have had to be too wide, too deep...and WTF would the point have been? We didn't go into Iraq because of 9/11 & no one with two brain cells to rub together ever believed that we did. And we could have gone into Afghanistan because of the Taliban anyway, if we'd wanted to. Feminists were screaming about them for years but no one paid any attention until Bush got his combat boots on. There was no NEED for 9/11 on the part of the government.

Hell, government couldn't even cover up Watergate effectively and that was long before the Information Age.

Do any of you remember the reaction from prez bush when he found out the towers had been hit?
    Neither do I.
He didn't have one. Which I thought was weird because I didn't personally knew anyone in NYC nor had I ever seen the towers IRL.
But I was still horrified and sadden that America was under "attack" and that so many innocent life's were changed forever bc of it.

As far as the reason behind the twin towers collapse it was motivated by greed and money. Just like everything else.

I don't believe it was an 'inside job', but I do have questions.
The OVal Offfice did know that Al Qaeda planned to attack the U.S. by flying jet planes into buildings, according to the presidential daily briefings issued months before 9/11. So no everyone was surprised by the attacks.

IMO what happened and is even worse is that high ranking government officials knew we were likely to be attacked and did nothing to stop it.

Yeah but that was his normal look. He only has one expression. :smt042

I agree with this. There isn't any reason for a government to cause destruction on this scale, against itself. Not to say the government hasn't been in shady things all through history.

Personally, I don't think about it. Many people need a boogie man. The Big Bad Government, The Scary Black Man Walking Towards You, Ghosts, Demons, Satan, Religious Nut Jobs (whether it's Christians, Jews, or Muslims...etc.), Fear of Your Spouse Going Ape Shit and Taking all of your stuff. It gives us someone to point the finger at when the world gets screwed up. Granted, everyone's government does some terribly bad stuff. But, if I spent my whole day worrying about that I would never succeed. Lets say it was an inside job...then what? The world will keep on turning. And we will go to work and wait for the next bad thing to happen, or we can go to work and continue moving forward. I think what happened is tragic. But, I don't need to know if it was an inside job or not in order to continue breathing through the day. The real boogie man is our own fear. So, I shrug it off and couldn't give two fux about it. I mourned those who lost their lives and left it at that. You can't move forward if you are constantly time traveling by being immersed in the past. Learn from it and move forward. Just my two cents.

To be honest, I just wrote it my opinion. I wasn't overly concerned if anyone read it. People who approach this subject (not everyone, but many...) tend to already have their minds made up before they enter.

It probably was an inside job...but I could be wrong;)

    Lots of damning evidence though.
