There should not be the concept of a woman being 'Easy' regardless of what her race is. If a man has a lot of sexual partners, he is praised, but a woman who explores her sexuality is looked down upon.

I think men can be macho without being a thug. Just because your ambitious and you work hard to achieve your goals in life and better yourself, does not mean your 'woman like'. Not at all. In fact I would prefer an intellegent, articulate man over a brainless thug any day!

Ignorant folks in the black community in general promote the gansta 'thug' image, not just black women. And you can not tell me that some non-black women don't gravitate towards black men because of that stereotype.

Secondly, most of the 'good' black men I know of have 'good' women on their arms. At my highschool, even the nerdiest and unattractive of boys had a gf. There was one guy I knew that was virtually a midget and had a gf.

I agree that there are some dasteredly black women out there, but I think with the BM shortage, there is more of a chance for BM to find a good BF, if they really want one. Colleges are overpopulated with BF, along with churches and clubs. If you had a bad experience with one, BM should easily be able to find another. It's not so easy with BF, because there's not a whole bunch of single BM running around as it is single BF.

Well, the way flaming says it is harsh, but he has a good point about the "shortage" working both ways. The situation is a lot more complex than "black men fuck up, go to jail and leave all us pristine, virtuous black queens without men."

Actually when you come right down to it there are BW and BM out there, no shortage of either. But if that isn't your preference it doesn't matter. It's like comparing apples to oranges. If you want a BMW 740 I and all they have out there are 325I's then you are SOL unless you change your preferences.

We all have to go for what is our preference and base things on our own experiences, period. Doesn't do any good to lie about either one because in the end you would wind up with a 325 I

Not entirely true. But some do and you know this. Even if a BM has self esteem issues that his problem, but we still shouldn't allow IR to keep us from respecting one another. Now this is one page we could take from our white counterparts.

 

Hello I am new to this site. I was curious about interracial couples since I am dating a black man who insists on only dating outside of his race. He is young, successful, and treats me like gold. For some reason he feels that black women are typically not women that he can deal with, because of their stereotypical ways of being dramatic or having drama or being too demanding (his words, not mine!). So I have been wondering if this is just his thing, or if there are other men out there that feel the same way. Or maybe there are black women that only date white men for the same reasons (Browneyes)?
I am a graduate student who has been studying multi cultural and gender studies, and I have dated men of all types over the years. However this is the first serious relationship I have had with a black man. It amazes me how people have such a hard time going outside their comfort zone on this issue- granted I understand that the past plays an important role. But for people to be so easy to judge, when their own situation is not so different. Granted we are not just talking about the color of someone's skin- we are talking about cultural differences and years of prejudice to get over. But when being with someone makes you happy no matter who they are, I think that I could care less what others think. I suppose that my white privilege makes it easy for me to gain support from the people around me, given my demographics. But if I lived in a different location in the US I may not be so lucky with my new love.
After reading the forums on this site, I have discovered that there are many different views on this issue, and that I am glad to know that there are other people out there struggling with the fear of interracial prejudices also. However, I was very disappointed, as a Feminist and a human being, to see that a person who came to this site was put down or made to feel unwelcome, just because she was a black woman. I feel that a site like this should be a place where anyone is free to voice their opinion and not feel criticized or out of place.
So, Browneyes, if you are not welcomed here, then neither am I. If you leave, then so will I. I admire your courage and strength as a woman for voicing your opinion. The internet is a free place for anyone to have a voice, and to say that someone cannot is a violation of your first Amendment Rights.

You "are" gold to men with this mentality. He is counting on you to further improve his world because of your white privilege. You are crucial to his existence. He will never find any fault in anything about you simply because of the color of your skin. But he can never find anything worthwhile in a black woman simply because he views us all as tainted for sharing his skintone and culture. Black men do not have the best reputation on this planet and many feel that possessing you will enhance their standing. I don't get this impression about you, but does it make white women feel extremely special when black men are eager to slur all black women and view you as goddesses of sorts?
