I'm curious to know from white women here. Do you feel that other races of women resent you or fear you? My lady has already given me her outlook, but i want to know from you and how you see yourself in relation to other races of women. So much is made in the media about what represents as the standard of beauty in white women that other races of women are influenced by these belif systems and that white women in particular represents power or trophies over other races of women. Does this affect your relationship with other "women of color" (i hate that phrase) in your professional and private relations with them? Do you feel that other races of women resent you because they feel that their men gravitate toward you as the supreme standard of beauty, power and influence? How does all this makes you feel?

I know i ask a lot of questions, but sometimes people do not like to talk about controversial topics. That is why this site is so interesting.

I think the majority of non-white females are annoyed that people assume they feel inferior. We must respect the fact that many non-white women are happy with the way they are. To presume that most of these women feel threatened is arrogant.

Yeah...the BW I know hate the fact people assume all BW are jealous..when that is so far from the truth. Most BW, LW and AW can't afford to have low self-esteem. Certainly if a sista can feel confident wearing super tight jeans when she's a size 20....seeing a beautiful WW walking down the street...isn't going to affect her much.

I think this is one of the best things I've ever read on here.

I cannot understand (and am glad that I don't) why these myths and ideas keep popping up. I honestly think this is mostly a US thing - people seem obsessed with race over there...? Am I wrong?

Everybody wants what they don't have. How many celebs who are mixed or coloured or whatever are considered beautiful?? There are Sudanese models here who are off-the-chart stunning...and they're as black as it gets.

I am white...if I had a choice I'd have olive skin, darker or lighter hair and bluer eyes. There are olive people who want to be white, there are white people who want to be black. Assuming that people somehow resent you for the way you look (which cannot be changed) only creates a whole raft of problems anyway, because your automatic response is to your in-built preprogrammed ideas.

Besides, I would feel very poorly towards myself if I assumed that other people resented me because of my colour...because that would mean that I assume that other people think I'm better because of my colour, and I would have to believe that on some level, and it's just so f#*%ing rediculous. This stuff really irks me... :( sorry for the rant.

Blacktiger - I would be interested to know what your gf thinks.

I'm in my 30s and I have to say that I've only experienced resentment towards me by 2 hispanic women. One flat out refused to even say Hi because I was white, and the other - besides having psychotic tendencies - accused me of all sorts of things and threatened to beat me up. I just rolled my eyes and moved on...

I won't go into any details about those experiences (those 2 instances were very specific to the situation I was in at the time), but I don't think there should be any generalizations. It's really on a case by case basis and is based on how each person is raised, IMO.
