    I went to Brown too....
Can't say there was much interracial dating going on while I was there...

I've lived in a fair few places and I have to say that apart from Cuba (where interracial dating is rampant/the norm because there aren't distinct races), I was really struck by the prevalence of IR dating in London...

cool, what year were you there? I am an 87 grad. there was some in those days but there was also opposition to it by the third world center.

    are you from BA, Argentina?

I'm a recent grad.... hmm... really recent (2005). TWC remains rather controversial no one seems to be able to agree on whether it is productive for the Brown community or not. Rather polemic.

No, I'm not from BsAs, I just live here. And for the record, there are very very few black men here. Perhaps I should have gotten work in Brazil instead! :D

yes argentina is not very diverse, the history is interesting as are many latin american countries.
there were black brought there for slavery but they went the way of the natives

what took you to Argentina, I love it, especially Mar de la Plata

what was your concentration at Brown/

the 3rd world center has always presented a hypocritical racist stance.

the BW in the org would harrass black men who dated white women, would post on their door who was dating IR, even put a list of all the black men's names at Brown who were dating outside of their race.

they were never reprimanded by the university

That much I wasn't aware of. I spose in some respects i was lucky not to have to confront that. But like I said, I wasn't fortunate enough to ir date at Brown.

I was a Latin American Studies and French Studies concentrator. I love that concentrations are truly irrelevant to real life...

i know, i agree. I went to university to study and become educated, not as a vocational school.

    I concentrated in history

why didnt you date IR there, were there not many black men or other men of color to date there anymore?

I didnt go to college until after I started my career, during which time I moved around a lot due to senority and the flux in aviation employment. When I finally got my degree, it was from the University of Miami.

I guess just that the opportunity didn't come up and I wasn't about to go searching for it. There's all sorts of weird racial stuff going on on that campus and it was very complex. Plus I was fairly detached from Brown for a variety of reasons (sport and being abroad mostly) and so I didn't end up meeting a lot of black men.

There is only one University of Miami. The other is Miami University at Ohio.

yeah. can you give me your insight into why Brown is such a liberal school, student body, but there was alot of segregation and self segregation by racial groups?

what sport did you play there?
