Of course catfishing is wrong, period... but damn.
    And the women...really??

Short, fat, 68-year-old Frenchman facing rape charges after using model's picture to convince two women to turn up to his house BLINDFOLDED to have '50 Shades of Grey sex' with him

A fat balding French man managed to convince unsuspecting women that he was a male model and a prince who wanted to meet them in a darkened room in his flat for sex.

The man posted a profile of a 37-year-old male model on several dating sites, including a fake photograph to lure in the women.

Several women responded to the man's advertisement, with two complaining that they only agreed to sex believing that the man they were meeting was completely different.

Two of the man's alleged victims spoke to Le Parisien, and revealed how the man managed to entice them into his flat.

The man described himself as Anthony Laroche on the Zoosk dating site and said they should have a completely blind date.

He exchanged a series of explicit text messages with both women before agreeing to meet up.

One of the women, known only as Sylvie told police that she was convinced she was meeting a 'good-looking man with brown hair and blue eyes'.

She said: 'He explained he wanted to play a game like in 50 Shades of Grey to make things more exciting.'

The man told the 40-year-old woman to put on a blindfold before joining him in bed.

After their initial encounter, the woman turned on the lights, and instead of a 37-year-old male model, she was confronted with 'a man of around 65, with glasses, balding and all wrinkly. He didn't correspond at all to the photo. I felt total disgust'.

The man's second victim, Leila told Le Parisien that after they finished their encounter, she wanted to see her new friend for the first time.Police arrested the 68-year-old man who has been named only as Michel.

She said: 'he didn't want me to take off the blindfold. When I insisted, he got angry. I ended up seeing his silhouette in the dark. He was old, pot-bellied with a big nose. I told him: "It wasn't you in the photo." He said: "No, but I had grown fond of you and was afraid to admit it." I left in disgust.'

Police arrested the 68-year-old man who has been named only as Michel.

An investigating magistrate has placed him on formal investigation for 'rape by surprise'.*

The man told police: 'For me, when she entered the bedroom naked, she was consenting. At that moment, she couldn't care less what I looked like.

'If she had asked just once if I was really the man in the photo, I would have told her the truth," he is cited as saying. Some women have a crazy side to them and like men who surprise them.'

The man's lawyer Laurent Poumarede said: 'Rape implies the absence of consent. Here the women were at no time forced. As for the photos of the model, they were too good to be true. I wonder if these women didn't knowingly close their eyes to the truth in more ways than one.'

However, Mohamed Maktouf, who is representing one of the women said despite the lack of violence, there was still a rape".

My 23 year old daughter and I watch the show Catfish and it's AMAZING the things that people do....and that's with being willing to be exposed on the show. Which makes me wonder how much worse people are doing who wouldn't be willing to be on there?! Other shows have shown women (and men) sending hundreds of thousands of dollars to someone they have never seen, talked to, met (usually in other countries). Some will even run out of money and start collecting money from others these "people" are scamming.

This one that Bliss posted reminds me of a story about a woman in CA who got pissed that someone bought the house she wanted and she started doing all sorts of things to terrorize them, including posting a personals sex ad on Craigslist saying how she was the woman living in the house and how she had rape fantasies. She even engaged with a few of the guys and 2 of them went to the house to attempt the "fantasy" with the woman she was taking revenge on! One of which couldn't get to the door because of a locked gate and the other was met at the door by the husband. But the woman had told the men to break into the house and that the more she says no the more she wants it. It could have gone much differently.

    People are crazy.

If you are dumb enough to trust a stranger you met online, what you got is what you deserve :smt102

Not the same in the least. The girls posing were assisting cops in a sting and were real, and the same who met the 'predator'. Catfishing is very different.

I watched something about how some of the scammers overseas are using cams. On the report they were saying ask to see a local dated daily paper and have them walk around on cam and such. Some use pre recorded video....but I would think that would be pretty easy to figure out given that what they are saying wouldn't match up with the conversation you are trying to have with them. But then again, look at how many are getting taken through the emails, etc that don't make any sense.

I agree. If anyone can be that stupid then it's a lesson they really need to learn and count their blessings it wasn't worse. :smt009

There's actually a show called catfish? Lol..

I remember that story you recited. Bloody awful....she was arrested, but the damage was done. How can she ever feel safe again in her own home.

    LOL Yep!

Dr. Phil has one on today about a man who's into some mail order bride thing. He's flown over to Ukraine (or wherever) twice, still never met the woman in person. They don't even really talk on the phone. She writes him letters and he pays to get them translated back and forth. He said he KNOWS she's real though because the translations are all connected and the "agency/site" he deals with has confirmed she's real.

He says it's not about the money though cause he has an inheritance and "she" agrees that he should take care of his kids first.

There are all sorts of stories that don't really involve money too though. Or the people don't think they involve money but they are sending them phones and all sorts of other things.

Some of them are really complex with multi layer profiles/communications.

    Keywords....live cam lmao

I remember those aol chat bots that used to fuck people up...make you think ur talking to a real person

I'd like to believe that the average person could tell between a pre-recorded cam feed and a live one tho

With artificial intelligence becoming more sophisticated this shit is going to get even crazier....eventually real life meetings won't even matter because they'll be lifelike robots n shit
