I felt the exact same way when my retail days were over.

 

I am buying a small flat!! The one I was previously turned down for. The other buyer (who bid more than me) pulled out. I have scored a bargain, and it's in a great location. I also moved out of home on the weekend and am living in a nice new location with one of my best friends. I will rent out the flat for a while and save up to cut my mortgage repayments. Better still, I read a property report today which said the market grew last quarter...

I start back at uni in 3 weeks, work is good, I am reading some great books and having wonderful discussions with people.

Generally, life is as close to perfect as I think it can be.

Congrats to everyone who's doing well with work, etc. Could this be a sign that the GFC is turning around?

Well, my interview went great. The guy even said I did very good. But then he also told me that it'll be 1-2 weeks before I will know anything, and that "We'll call you". Usually this means "Thanks but no thanks". bah.

I've got less than two weeks to figure out how to pull 300 bucks out of thin air or else my school isn't gonna let me attend this quarter! I can't afford to wait.

Frustrating.

 

If only everyone in the forum could somehow chip in $5

 

I hope that you hear back sooner and that the answer is you have a job! Keep us posted.

 

Hmmm...can't say i totally agree with this. I interviewed with the job that i'm currently working for, and i thought i aced it. However, after it was over, the woman said "okay, we'll contact you in a week and let you know." Once she said that, i thought, i'm probably not getting this job. Heck, i had my bags packed, and ready to move to a brand new city because i thought there was no chance of me getting the job. But one day, right as i was about to buy some train tickets to a new city (which was about 7 days later), i got a phone call and the woman offered me the job.

So if you feel like you gave a great interview (which you probably did), odds are you have as good a chance as anybody of landing that position, even if they say "we'll call you."

 

how about you whip up a few more paintings like the one you made for your brother...lipstick might be interested in purchasing your work before you get toooooooooo famous

 

If it weren't for the scrap of dignity and pride I've managed to salvage, I'd be inclined to discreetly ask for a few small loans, actually. I've had to in the past, but only in emergency situations. I prefer to just make my own money, though.

Besides, I've still got a week and a half left of break, and I know a few various ways of making quick cash. Doing hair, selling artwork (when I can find buyers >.<)...Thinking of spending an afternoon making hemp jewelry to sell to my friends...lol

Yeah, I know. You just don't understand how unlucky I am, though. lol I think it's a curse sometimes! I've had really good job offers based on my typing skills alone, but I can never find one that will work with my ever changing school schedule, or is too far away, or something. lol

But we'll see. He said he can't make any promises, but I had his vote. Not to mention my personality matches quite well with a lot of the staff. I chatted around with a few of the salespeople, and had a cigarette with another applicant. lol I also think I sold my boyfriend an electric guitar while I was there. Ohhh, and I picked out an adorable baby pink fender strat I'm gonna totally get if I do get the job. I've heard you get amazing discounts when you work there.

...that's part of the reason I want the job so bad. Plus the sweet ass commission I'd get...! But I'm not sure. The position is for Pro Audio...I think I'd end up being more of a tech than a salesperson, so there might not be commission, but I think they also get paid more.

It doesn't really matter either way. Desperation means I'll be taking whatever damn job hires me the quickest, and I'm filling out apps like a mofo. lol And I'm doing a homie's hair on his next day off.

There are two. one is a fuschia glitter, the other is indeed peptobismol pink. That's the one I'll get probably, since it's got potential if I come up with a cool design.
