It's a good thing I'm not much of a PC Gamer period. I do see your sentiment and what have you, but the truth is...no matter how big you are on your PC gaming, the consoles still hold some advantages.

in the graphics department, PC wins. I loaded up Call of Duty on my ps3, and then on my PC, with the same monitor, and was disgusted at the environments and degradation in textures in the ps3 version.

Console gaming doesn't really hold any technological advantages, in my opinion. While you're playing with a factory-spec console, i'm playing with a custom-modded pc, with latest graphics/soundcard/memory enhancements.

Consoles just have more games. That's about it. PC software piracy is too fucking easy, so that market is slowly drying up.

I really wasn't speaking strictly on the technological department. I won't argue that the PC is an incredibly flexible piece of work and when it comes to graphics and other capabilities, it wins out ALL THE TIME. HOWEVER, I could argue that it comes at a cost in terms of glitches. Case in point, I own The Thing for the PC. Excellent game, but ONE gripe I should say really pisses me off. As I'm about to finish off the final boss, the game suddenly closes. Turns out that I own the version with a glitch. You'll hardly find something like that on consoles.

I'm not saying all PC games have that, but you're more likely to suffer from bugs like that on a PC than you would on a console.

Another thing I would add on the PC vs. Console debate is that consoles win out in one department: controller flexibility in games. When playing on the PC, it's ideal configuration would be the WASD with mouse, right? Well, it definitely works for:

    1. First-Person Shooters
    2. 3D Action and Adventure games
    3. Real-time strategy times
    4. Puzzle games

They work extremely well for those games, but such a control mechanism cannot work for the following:

    5. Rhythm based games
    6. Fighting games
    7. Sports games
    8. Racing games

Try making a decent fighting game for the PC, and you would NEED to purchase a controller to even rival the same kind of quality assurance. Also, in the technology department, thanks to the Nintendo Wii with it's Wiimote, the mouse + keyboard scheme no longer feels quite as strong in preference for various games.

just take your existing ps3 or 360 controller and plug it into a USB port

    :p

Hahaha, and you won't get the same kind of quality regardless. THEN we're dealing with how the computer and controller responds with each other. A small one second delay could mean the difference between a victory, and you forced to watch 2girls1cup while eating chocolate ice cream.

which is why microsoft specifically released software for 360 controllers

also, games that I have recognize the controller as a '360 windows controller,' and allow me to configure it. I play Batman, Fifa, all that good shit with my 360 controller, just the way you would with ur xbox. It's not like all of a sudden, I have herky-jerky controls.

That's COMCAST for you, my friend! Why don't you just dump comcast and switch to something far better? I have Centurylink, what's so good about this company, because it's private. I don't have to worry about anything. I don't have to worry about having them shut me down.

So, by spring, I just might going to get brand new computer. If I desires the most. Going to get HP or GATEWAY. Either way, I need to upgrade to more storage, however.

But how do they respond compared to their console counterpart?

the same, considering the same games on console get ported to PC, and vice-versa

like i said before, games (especially ones under the banner of 'games for windows live') usually come with settings that recognize 360 controllers (as a 360 controller by name), and lets you configure them with sensitivity, button mapping, etc. Microsoft has really done an outstanding job on that front.

I was like you and thought I would have to buy a separate controller. Then I seen the software online and just plugged one of them in. I have a bunch of console controllers.

And the guitar hero controller I have for ps3, worked for PC guitar hero3 flawlessly.

late edit - pc programmers know the popularity of gamepads, which is why you're seeing more attention to making them fully compatible

That's cool. But in the end, consoles and PCs are definitely going to be one and the same overall in regards to deliverance. It's akin to people mixing together. Regarding the content and how we play...it'll be on giant cluster. All that's left is the ability to literally be part of the game.

Oh, that would be some crazy shit. I would like to be in something like that for a beat em up game. Like a fully immersive Streets of Rage or Final Fight.

    That is sexy, Tarshibear!

I think I'd be too weary of such a transition. Then civilization won't evolve much further.

Well, first and foremost, the results aren't entirely too "accurate" on the religion you belong to. However, I do get a keen sense of you being quite spiritual and what have you.
