I've seen other stats that said different, but I'll concede that point. If the majority of Americans poll that way, fine. It won't be that way long -- like other types of bigotry, it will take it's place in history, where it belongs, soon enough. ...And the evidence for that is here:
This is interesting as well, apparently the majority of Americans do not support your view that all civil rights for gay people is wrong:
I don't know why you bother to post that. I've said repeatedly that I believe gay rights to be a civil rights struggle, the only reason I can think that you post that is to get me not to say what I obviously believe. It doesn't work.
The real face of the "gay lobby": http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/08/27/lesbian.activist.dies/index.html Doesn't sound at all to me like: Does it sound that way to you?
Don't tell me, tell them: Gays decry Obama's stand on gay marriage case By LINDA DEUTSCH and LISA LEFF – 21 hours ago LOS ANGELES (AP) — Gay rights groups expressed dismay with the Obama administration Friday over its championing of the Defense of Marriage Act The government filed a motion late Thursday to dismiss the case of Arthur Smelt and Christopher Hammer, who are challenging the 1996 federal act. The law prevents couples in states that recognize same-sex unions from securing Social Security spousal benefits, filing joint taxes and other federal rights of marriage. U.S. Department of Justice lawyers argued that the act...would infringe on the rights of taxpayers in the 30 states that specifically prohibit same-sex marriages. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5hVLXVV6bmG_wjIN5b_AzLQvPaKiwD98PFONG2
Exactly. They did not demand rights until they were DENIED to them. You don't just go around saying "Hmm, I think I'll go out and get some rights", you try to live your life as your parents and your siblings and your friends and associates and fellow Americans do, and you are DENIED the ability to do so. There is only ever a civil rights struggle when those rights are being DENIED to someone.
Who will be the next group of sexual deviants to "demand" benefits previously unreceived, and unsupported by taxpayers? What a false sense of entitlement.
The word you are looking for is equality, not entitlement, and it's not at all false. Btw, gay and lesbian people are not sexual deviants, but your insistence upon defining them soley upon what happens in their bedrooms makes your entire position look narrow and not very well thought out.
A constant denial of the obvious and a warped sense of entitlement on the part of the gay lobby is why President Obama and other Americans time and again refuse to equate same-sex partnerships with traditional marriage.
And when the old people are gone, their children will live happily together, be they gay or straight, without any of of the above crazy talk.
Are you admitting that they are partnerships? I thought they were just sequential sexual encounters, judging by your rhetoric thus far.
