This is a sad case of violence in Chicago… I guess I am a bit naïve, growing up I never had to worry about being “jumped” or someone running around with a gun, so reading this makes me want to cry… I often read about gang violence in Chicago, and when two adults are involved I think “oh how sad” but to be honest I won’t be sad about the lives lost or wonder about the circumstances that get people there. But to read about 16 year olds jumping on a bus to shoot other 16 year old school kids and in the end killing one…
How hopeless and how robbed of any vision of a future must this 16 year old kid have been to do something like this?

In Germany two 15 year old boys raped 2 girls, aged 12 and 13…

What is happening with kids that they are so violent, so careless, so hopeless that they cross these lines?

    In The News/Teen Violence.

I wish there were any easy answer to something like this.I think that, however, violence has always taken place, but it's just that now it's being publicized more and nothing escapes our notice globally.Think about it:with the advent of "You Tube," you can catch a violent episode occuring from anywhere in the world.
My answer probably isn't comforting, and a tad cynical but today's guns are just a replacement for yesterday's club and sticks, and the day before's fists.I'm not saying I don't feel grieved when I hear these stories also;but I'm afraid I too, come up short, in finding a solution to the reality of a violent world we're living in.

I agree... it's just shocking how raw the emotions are. I guess one thing that might help to make a change is if the young people, same age as the gang bangers, future gang bangers etc. go out on the streets and show that they are not like this. The majority of kids are good kids. If they start showing up, disagreeing with the gang culture it might start loosing it's "appeal" to others. I am sure the kids look at the ministers, peace movement, civil rights leaders as "old farts" they need to organize with people their age and get something going.
