What Do WW Here Prefer: Clean-Shaven Men or Men With Goaties

Just a question out of curiosity. I recently shaved my goatie, which I've been sporting for many years, and opted for the clean-shaven look. The interesting thing is before I even did that, folks always told me I don't look my age (I recently turned 30-people used to tell me I looked 25-27), so I bet I probably look even younger now that I have shaved it all off.

I seem to have noticed sort of mixed reactions now from some women. On the one hand, there are some (mainly older women) who of course wouldn't imagine I'm 30 and probably think I'm some 22-23 year old kid and quickly look away (like at my gym) when I try to make eye contact with them, as if to say "I ain't even gonna get involved with this one...he's too young." On the other hand, I seem to be getting attention also from both younger and older women at the same time in some sort of a different way that is hard for me to describe.

I remember when I was 21 years old and I had once shaved my beard completely. Some folks used to tell me I looked 16-18. One day, I went to the mall and a teenager sent her friend to approach me. Her friend told me her friend who was sitting with her thought I was very cute. She asked me my age and I said, "21." She went back and told her friend and never returned. That was a very funny experience I will never forget.

Anyway, I'm just curious as to what the white women on this forum prefer as far as this topic is concerned. I guess it all depends on the woman.

    okay

    i'm not a woman ( I think )

    but..

I know where I work at, most white women prefer me with my light beard..

the black women are always moaning about me not shaving, and prefer that I keep my hair cut really low/bald.

I know my comment seems like a generalization, but this is just based on my experiences..

hope this helps, if you're lookin for it, from a banana-packing dude

I'm all about the goatee. I love it! Not a beard, a nice, neatly kept goatee.

My soon-to-be-ex husband always had a goatee, and I got used to it, and now I like it better than clean shaven. Though I definitely prefer clean shaven over a beard.

    So:

    1st place: Goatee
    2nd: clean-shaven
Last and definitely least in my book: beard.

    Hope that helps!

^^^she doesn't live in philly, so she doesn't count

    on a serious note tho..

it sounds as if you're trying to adapt yourself, to something..or someone...

many women like different things, so what pleases Bambi may not please Heidi..

If you keep trying to change yourself to catch a woman, you're going to end up with a sh*tload of medical bills..

if they like you, they like you...if they don't, they don't...

plenty of single women around that will like you for what you got

I absolutely agree with you Petty on the women thing.

But, Chicago is way better than Philly, so my opinion counts more. HA HA.

Yeah, Shaft, just be who you are. Women want a man who's true to himself. And I would hope men want a woman who is true to herself.

I think the facial hair thing depends on the guy who's wearing it. It is simply more flattering on some men than others. Facial hair can make a man look older, so if that's the look you want, go for it!

I'll always have a "thing" for goatees. My high school bf had one and when he went down on me, my err..."essence" would get in his goatee :D

I definately have a thing for a man with a gotee.... but it does depend on the man fo sho... :) I have seen fine black men with great smiles and eyes smooth skin totally clean shaven and, wow.. same reaction there :) depends on the face of the man... :D

Depends on the guy. Mine has a goatee which looks good on him but he is young looking - probably like you Shaft. He is 35 but only looks about 25 with the goatee...without it, people would probably think I was a paedophile

Some guys look stupid with goatees though. Like they are trying too hard especially with the pencil thin ones. yuk.

I appreciate this feedback, folks. I was just curious. And to PettyofficerJ, not at all...I'm not trying in the least to change for anyone or to adapt myself to anyone's desires. I don't do that. I've had a goatie for a very long time and I sort of got tired and got rid of it just for a change. Plus yes, I have to be honest about this one. Since I just turned 30 and people used to tell me that I didn't look my age at all even with the goatie, I thought I'd take advantage of that for my own self and get rid of it for a brief period of time. I've met more than enough shallow women in this country who are very lacking in substance to worry about trying to change myself to please any of them.

I love a beard (but I realize I am in the minority). The longer the better. The only beards I do not go for are the pencile thin lines. They look to contrived, to high maintenance.

But a thick, healthy beard is a sign of plenty of testosterone. Plus is it the polar opposite of feminity.

What do you think a poor fellow like myself should do? I can grow a reasonable amount of facial hair everywhere except for the 'moustache area' (clearly visible but not bushy) and I can't grow any hair (yet) on the sides of my lip...the connecting part...keeping me from the "full beard"....should I grow it or shave it?

It seems culturally, bm tend to wear facial hair, typically well-groomed facial hair....unless you str8 hood, then you keep it grimey. However, clean-shaven tends to be more of euro-centric preference, particularly in corporate America. Nonetheless, I always have a close cropped and lined-up beard, sometimes pencil-thin (sorry Mistress/Flygirl)...but damnit I LOOK GOOD WITH IT!

I went clean shaven once and I'll never do it again...it wasn't a good look. A ww told me not to do it again because I looked like a "gay white man" :x she was joking of course, but damn that hurted. :?

DISCLAIMER: Trust and believe I don't look gay....mufuckas

    lolol

    you trippin' homie

    i usually go clean shaven/very dark 5 o'clock shadow..

I do this because I don't feel like keeping my beard looking trimmed and in-sync, on both sides..

I'm lazy in that department, so one side will be thicker, or growing in more places, than the other.

I have a very light mustache, which never seems to thicken, so i don't mess with that. Don't have to worry about it looking really fu*ked up, because you can barely see it.

Actually, it looks like the mustache you would see on women with facial hair...

I must say I love a goatee, but it needs to clean and I like them on a little shorter side, just enough to notice it. Is extremely attractive. NO Beards or Mustaches.

    For some reason I can't stand goatees. I like a guy clean-shaven or with a day's growth.

goatees are sexy. so is 5 c'clock shadow - makes you rugged and manly looking.

as far as hair....dreads can be really hott, but nothing is sexier than a bald-headed black man....sexy!!

I agree with everything you said. I like a man to have some facial hair but not a mess if that makes sense.
