Yep. "Badass-ism" has been a problem among bm for generations... Yet they're typically quite docile & ready to just be philosophical about personal affronts from wm...

And specifically, the "gangsta rappers" have become a bain to black neighborhoods, glorifying black on black violence to sell records, yet they often punk out when it comes to dishing out violence themselves...

Case in point, I watched a show called "beef" on bet recently... 50-Cent, who pimps himself as a "gangsta", had a beef with another rap crew and got stabbed, and ended up taking out an order of protection against the guy (rather than dealing with him in the "gangsta" style he glorifies).

Mobb Deep, who made their career of gangsta rap, got into a beef with another crew. That crew visited them at the studio, robbed them, stripped them naked, and publicized it. Mobb Deep did nothing about it, except wax philosophical during the show's interview...

...Not saying these guys should've come out blazing, but they shouldn't have been presenting themselves as "thugs" and "gangstas" in the first place...

Lots of bm (kids) are dead or in prison right now, because they picked up "thug" values from the music that glorifies it. Little did they know, it's largely just a marketing ploy, and just like that, their lives are fucked.

I like hip hop. It gives a voice to the voiceless. But in keeping with their backwardism, bm are squandering this powerful asset...

the black men full of self-spite who get together with equally racist "wiggers" to hate and despise black men who don't aspire to the ghetto mentality and lifestyle.

the black men who threaten other blacks with senseless violence, but then take issue to the ku klux klan and white extremist groups who share a similar desire to savagely rid the earth of blacks they don't like.

the ones that act stupid and "ghetto" in public and make it all too easy for even the most unattractive and neurotic of women to act real childish, stupid and silly around any bm.

    To sunstorm and malachi,

Both good points, but what about this: If the black male youth who aspires to this social programming is partly to blame for partaking in the influence, then wouldn't you say that the media's excessive stereotyping/dehumanizing over the decades has an influence on the current conditioning of the 'gangsta youth'? Yeah, the media is influential, but the conditioning today that burns in the mind of these black male youths who participate in it can't be held completely responsible, don't you think? And what do the both of you think of the non-black male youths who are influenced by these same ghetto aspects of American culture? They aren't conditioned to see themselves the way the black male youths are, so how would the both of you define that?

You all make some very interesting points.

I would have to say that I can't stand it when a BM behaves in a way that others have described here as "conspiracy brother". When a BM makes EVERY little thing about him being black and takes EVERYTHING absolutely personally. I can't STAND that!

In fact, it is a trait that I can't stand in ANYONE who has an issue with something about them. For example it's like someone who is overweight and equates almost everything to that... "oh, he looked at me funny because I'm fat.. she was rude to me because I'm fat."

ARGH!!! That drives me NUTS!! And I just want to yell at ppl like this: "GET OVER YOURSELF, ALREADY!!!"

ooooooof.... ok..... I'm over it! I'm done with the ranting for today! hahaha

Can I just second all of that - when people hear everything you say in terms of their own insecurities: it's the worst kind of projection and very antisocial! I just want to say to them: Get yourself into therapy, mate!

To those who don't know who "conspiracy brother" is check out the movie Undercover Brother. His is played by Dave Chappelle.

there's a correlation between the "negative" images and the fact that there are those who accept or believe them... but not a cauasation (that "negative" images cause people accept or believe them)

to me, it's really a matter of the quality of people who accept these images and influences as reality.

it's fair and natural for a man to assume that the vast majority of women are not attracted to men outside their race (most important -- not necessarily his race) and leave it at that, but for a man to use to twist this fact and use it against certain white women to inspire feelings of guilt, confusion, and anger is very sad, masochist behavior.

I don't have any turn offs or major gripes with bm as "group", but with certain individuals, such as

those who can't imagine that someone actually likes or loves them simply for who they are and who try to compensate with all kind of show-off-isms, be it the big car, a bunch of women, or alleged big dicks /sexual potential

Those who don't have an oppinion of their own, and who have to wait for the next rating in male magazines to find out what kind of woman they like, have to get new pictures of their favorite celebrities before they know what kinds of clothes and hairstyle they want to wear, or have to listen to a political commentator first before they know what they think about current events, and those who just believe everything without double checking

those who have more playstation games and copies of magazines than books

those who more frequently join pissing contests about the most pitiful victim in history than discussions about progress and personal development

those who think it's a great achievement to have sex with a thousand of different women

those who think that lying, cheating and dishonesty are "cool" and "masculine" characteristics

those who believe that getting high on drugs is a black or african "tradition" and "cultural custom"

those who lost the ability to differentiate between racists, classists, capitalists, and just plain ignorant and stupid assholes

those who examine everything closely for real or imagined racist notions, but think that being black gives them a free pass for their own rampant bigotry and poisonous hatred

those who think history started with the trans-atlantic slave trade

those who are so conditioned by racist propaganda that they believe in a strict black/white dichotomy and in a "homogeneous white collective" and a "homogeneous black collective"

those who are convinced that the main dinner table topic of everyday "whites" are "black" people and who think that being white is like this http://www.dumpalink.com/post/1135163272/Eddie_Murphy_As_A_White_Guy (click on the picture to see the clip)

I cannot stand BM who think it is cool to put fancy rims, expensive sound systems and try to beautify a banged-up, rusty car. What is the damn point in that? Why not use that money to purchase a better car?

Black men who would respect a drug dealer who drives a Ferrari than a teacher who drives a Chevy are stupid to me.

Brothas who consider the NBA, NFL or entertainment a more important asset than education are confused. All of those things are temporary; education is permanent.

Lazy brothas who blame racism and the system for their lack of personal achievement are extremely stupid to me. I understand racism exists in the USA but if you actually worked hard for yourself, you'd be somewhere. America is racist but there are millions of successful blacks.

I hate it when ignorance is seen as cool.

I agree with what you say malachi, but I meant it in a much larger sense. I meant it about BM who assume that EVERY interaction that ppl have with them is somehow related to their race... not just women or WW.

Well to answer the question about beautifying a beat up car........drug dealers often times drive cars that are shoddy because if you live in certain neighborhoods and drive an unusually nice car particularly if you are a known drug dealer....you will draw the attention of local law enforcement. Cops often know who is doing what but when you decide to raise your profile and become flashy...that is when you are most certain to fall. Many (not all) of the mid-level dealers can afford nice automobiles but would rather make the inside of the cars ( as well as the rims) look good since that won't attract as much suspicion.....BM often get pulled over in nice cars....if you are carrying lots of drugs/drug money on you...being in a nice car only increases the chance of going to prison....I know in the south like where you are Laydeezman..its much more popular to take this approach...up north, the underworld "leaders" tend to be flamboyant and stylish.....

I agree with your analysis on everything....there are so many of us who need to hear that.

    Undercover Brother: Hi.
Conspiracy Brother: "Hi"? What you mean "hi"? Like "high yellow wanna be white"? "High" like the *white man* wants to keep us? Wait, you don't smell any weed on me, do you?
Undercover Brother: Brother, when you get a minute, could I get a list of the words that trigger these fits?

    ----

Undercover Brother: You know what they say, behind every great black man...
    Conspiracy Brother: is the police.
    Undercover Brother: No.
Smart Brother: A bunch of slow white athletes?
    Undercover Brother: No!
    White She-Devil: A cute butt.
    Undercover Brother: NO!
    Lance: Probable cause.

    ---

Lance: So let me get this straight; whenever a black guy does well, starts wearing Dockers, buys a few Celine Dion records, and sleeps with a White chick, you automatically say he's sold out?
    The Chief: That's enough, Lance!
Lance: Always trying to shut the white man down.
Conspiracy Brother: THAT'S RIGHT! That's Right!... Oh, ain't right.

    ---

Conspiracy Brother: That's Right! It's goin' to the streets. Hey y'all! It's revolution up in this Bitch! Set the alarm for Defcon 5! It's on, baby... it's on!
The Chief: Good work, White She-Devil. Oh, and you in too.
Conspiracy Brother: What the Fuck? Chief! I've never seen this bitch in my agent classes! I'm still paying the loans off, man! I sleep on a pissy mattress! I ain't got good food to eat! I borough money for my Weed! I quit! That's it. Y'all ain't got Conspiracy Brother Jones to kick around no more! Give me a pillow case... I'm joining the Klan!
