dunno right off the bat.. id have to google (which can be verrrrrrrrrry helpful) http://www.webmd.com/pain-management/muscle-spasms-cramps-charley-horse pretty sure there is more around suspecting ur diet was a smart move tho lots of times when our body acts up, it's because it is either getting too much or too little of certain nutrients
I used to get leg cramps also. Biggest things are staying hydrated and stretching well. I also incorporated more bananas into my diet (totally helped!). Water water water...it does wonders for your body!
I am very committed to getting back in shape I've been working out vigoursly 6 days a week now. Down to 215.4lbs unless the scale was wrong.
I usually have one or two bananas per day but I heard that if you drink milk with it (like I do for breakfast), the calcium will almost neutralize the magnesium Maybe I should get those magnesium pellets that you can dissolve in water.
Thank you for taking your time to look that up :freehug: They say: To help reduce the risk of cramps in the future, try the following: Eat more foods high in vitamins and magnesium and calcium. Stay well hydrated. Stretch properly before exercise. I actually never stretch before exercising, only afterwards. I will try to improve all of the above.
Hmm haven't heard that before. Honestly I don't do much with weights and I don't mess with many supplements. Healthy diet and lots of running is about it for me! Haha nurse raider was right. Imagine that!
as for stretching..ive seen lots of different theories on the subject some believe when you stretch before exercising, you are using up stored energy that would normally be used during the workout phase. so in a way, you're kinda reducing your potential. others believe that by stretching the muscles, you are loosening them up before working out, which would result in less injuries so....low and behold..dynamic stretching http://www.fitday.com/fitness-artic...amic-stretching-versus-static-stretching.html
I can't help it, I just love lifting weights for some reason. Makes me feel so damn good (except for the cramps of course LOL) Smartass
i stretch afterwards personally, never before if i need to get loose or warmup prior to weight lifting, i'll devote a few light sets during a specific workout to that the video is a good example of a routine you'll see performed by athletes that play sports or take part in a gym class
That was really helpful! I had no idea what dynamic stretching for the leg would look like. I do cardio for a warm up before weight lifting. Usually 30 minutes treadmill (but only powerwalking with a high incline). Just like with the stretching, some people say you should do the cardio before and some say after the weight lifting. I believe in doing what works best for me. If I'm done with weight lifting I feel like crashing on the couch not doing cardio.
I've made little progress since people wanted to cry about my death diet and put me on an alcoholic party binge diet instead...
I'm finally able to do pushups, even though I'm not sure my posture is 100% correct. I wonder how much of your bodyweight you are pushing when you do pushups?
Inspiring! I've been being lazy...think I will start back now since I feel like a bum now...lol...insanity here we go!
I'm still keepin' up my 5 days of arm curls, bench presses, and cardio (3 days on the treadmill, 2 on the bike). Let's keep up the good work, ladies & gentlemen!!! Cherok33 & Unique, let's make it happen!! You can do this!!
I lost about 13 or 14 pounds since last summer. Only a little bit more and my tummy will finally be flat again
You look fabulous, U!! Seriously! You might not even need to lose any more weight to get that last little tuck into your tummy. Something I learned when I was younger: Practice holding your stomach in when you walk. All the time. My mom and aunt used to say "Tuck tummy in" to my sister and I when we were in jr high. I took it to heart and did it and I developed really tight abdomen muscles!! Upper and lower.
