    Good point of view .

Then he follows the police to their car?! I can imagine how he acted. Idiot!

    Also a good point.

Now lets look at another that I will bring . I hope that it is very objective.

    1) The professor came across as an elitist. "I am a Professor at HARVARD" and probably ran off at the mouth too much.

    2) The cop . well they have a "I AM GOD because I have a badge " complex. I have experienced this personally.

I was going to court to pay a ticket. we were told to stand in line and then they decided to reconfigure the line structure. so I stated to the cop " excuse me officer"

he replied " WHAT DO YOU WANT !"

Now let me tell you that pissed me off. I kept my cool while the crowd gasped.

I replied " Which line do you want me in since the you guys are restructuring it"

He stated in midsentence " Just get back in line !"

Now Im gonna tell you people I was pissed but I kept my cool. A young lady stated " Damn jerk. "

    3) You put 2 arrogant idiots in the same room and boom a nucleur expolsion of Revolution poportions.

    4) How can you be arrested for disorderly conduct in your own home. according to the law that was profiled on CNN today, the cops would have been owned in the court room and found to have acted out of place.

    5) If the cop acted in accordingly then he would have had no problem in giving up their badge number.

Lady's and gentlemen both parties were acting like kids and needed to get an ass whipping.

    No go to your corners.

No the president is doing something not the last president would do. as a matter of fact he is doing something the 2 men should have been doing. more of a matter of fact he is doing something most people would not do.....and say he made a mistake .

Not damage control .just showing leadership, being human and being a MAN.

My reply to the italicized on the previous page still stands, whether it was POJ's thoughts or anyones elses. Who cares if others believe that, its a foolish belief IMO. Folks who think like that, (scary negros) are the ones who Harriet Tubman shot in the head. Its prime example of a Slave Mentality.smh

Agreed, but from a strictly political standpoint it could affect the electoral balance in former red states and amongst blue dog democrats.

Obama will be perceived as anti-police and eager to play the race card.

Is this a joke? Obama and Gates aren't the ones setting back race relations in this country. The real culprits are the cretins who constantly play up racial strife for political gain.

So Gates instantly claiming racism for people thinking he was some random thug breaking into a house (according to initial report, he drew the race card when the officers arrived), and Obama backing him 100% and saying the cops acted in a stupid manner, is not helping to set back race relations in the US?

I guess that's why Obama went through hell and high water, to retract his stance and say that he should not have made that assumption, without knowing all the facts, followed up by calling the white officer and offering him a beer.

Yes, he's not trying to mitigate any hints of a setback at all.

PS.. I commend anyone civilized enough not to get 'too' emotional during these threads, by resorting to name calling and the sort. We're all entitled to our opinions.

Well, since you still seem to be functioning under the assumption that the police report is a neutral, unimpeachable account of what happened why don't you take a gander at this and get back to me:

911 caller in Gates arrest never referred to 'black suspects'

In the police report, filed by Crowley, he says he spoke with Whalen outside the home before he approached Gates' house.

"She went on to tell me that she observed what appeared to be two black males with backpacks on the porch of Ware Street," the report says. "She told me that her suspicions were aroused when she observed one of the men wedging his shoulder into the door as if he was trying to force entry."

    ---------------------------------

Attorney Wendy Murphy, who represents Whalen, also categorically rejected part of the police report that said Whalen talked with Sgt. James Crowley, the arresting officer, at the scene.

"Let me be clear: She never had a conversation with Sgt. Crowley at the scene," Murphy told CNN by phone. "And she never said to any police officer or to anybody 'two black men.' She never used the word 'black.' Period."

She added, "I'm not sure what the police explanation will be. Frankly, I don't care. Her only goal is to make it clear she never described them as black. She never saw their race. ... All she reported was behavior, not skin color."

He did that because the right wing mouth breathers had started up with their faux outrage, and the media took the bait as usual. IMO Obama revisited the issue on Friday to put it to bed and get the discussion back to health care reform where it belongs.

I think you and every other person who is convinced that Gates is solely at fault here should take a look at my last post. If you have and you're still siding with the police and their version of events, I don't know what to tell you.

First post and you come right here? LOL

You need to actually read the thread and view what Roacha posted. The cops lied. Period. They released the 911 call and the person who made the call NEVER said 2 black men were breaking into a home like the officer put in hsi report. Period. No more trying to pretend they didnt lie.

True. These are people that need a good excuse and cloak to hide their own predjudices and finding a black man that plays the race card is a great place to start. Honestly many of the people in the red states (regardless of your view on issues/politics) are the people that benefit the most from liberal social policies while many of the elites in the blue states benefit most from more conservative, low-tax, business-friendly policy. If ever conservatives and liberals would get it...Texas is last in health care (no surprise) but we've got the best economy of any state (2nd largest to Cali) and are #1 in transportation and infrastructure (at least according to studies done by CNBC and other outlets)....second overall in business (next to Virginia) after a 3-year run at #1. In other words...liberals need to handle the social issues and conservatives need to handle the business. If only it were that simple..LOL
