I've mentioned before taking a relative to doctor visits at theVA Hospital in D.C., the mental health care unit there has at least one armed guard at the nurse's desk because sometimes mentally ill, unmedicated vets go after their doctors or other patients.

These guards NEVER use armed force. (I personally don't know of any case where a vet brought a weapon into the VA Mental Health clinic.) They know going in if there's any kind of altercation, it's going to be old school hand to hand and wrestling the patient on the ground until another officer or staffer can help cuff him.

If a suspect in the situation in L.A. goes for your gun, crush him in the face with your fist and get some assistance from a fellow officer on scene.

The fact these officers lost control so quickly of the situation tells me they're either inexperienced or incompetent.

Well its hard to crush someone's face in 2.4 secs which is the average time of a physical connection and shooting. They tasered him, but it didn't work. so that's another layer.

I read that he recently got out of 15 yrs in prison for armed robbery, and that the call was for a robbery. Of course, it definitely could have been as you suggest, because they were eye sores and the 911 call was a fake... time will tell.

You are correct about the experience part. The cop that was beating the homeless man up was the least experienced and yet was doing most of the work.
