Do you give up any of your time to volunteer work? If so, why? I volunteer at a food bank and a free legal clinic. I work there about 6 hours a month. I do it because it feels like it is the right thing to do. I feel blessed and believe in walking the walk.
I've been a mentor for the past 10 years. A youth center in D.C, and the youth challenge program in Aberdeen proving grounds.
Well I have to be honest in saying since I came here to LR, not much. I am still trying to figure this place out. I love being around kids, mostly the older kids. Because I understand the mentality. you find me that kid that everyone else has give up on, and if he shows me he really wants to change...but doesn't know how. I'll take him every day. ...everyday.
I've been volunteering since junior high school, off and on. Currently not volunteering as my schedule is demanding so much time. My volunteering includes working at the youth shelter, SPCA, tutoring in school (actually I still do that today at my current school), trainer for two football teams for multiple seasons...
That's great, we need people like you in Australia to work with Aboriginal youth. Damn, they really really need strong male role models and you'd be perfect.
Yes they really do. There needs to be an organisation here for that (if there isn't already). I use to volunteer at the RSPCA, but not anymore and I met my man doing charity work in Africa. Fixing up schools. I haven't volunteered recently in anything, but I'd like to get back to doing some of that. I'd love to do another community project.
