DETROIT (WJBK) - It's the casino surveillance video at the heart of a lawsuit against the Detroit police department. Video released to FOX 2 shows what appears to be a Detroit police officer throwing a punch at Patrick Hassan on July 30 at the MGM Grand Casino. The incident took place after Hassan allegedly slapped a waitress on the behind earlier in the evening. According to Wolfgang Mueller, Hassan's attorney, the officer broke his client's nose on the first punch and hit him two more times, breaking his ribs. The officer, however, claims Hassan made the first move. He was facing charges, but they were eventually dropped. "As soon as the prosecutor's office saw the videotape, the charges disappeared," said Mueller. Hassan is now suing the department for money, as well as the officer's resignation. FOX 2 tried to contact DPD, but were told they cannot comment on pending cases. http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/dpp/new...roit-police-officer-beating-man-at-mgm-casino
Wow, just watched the video. That officer busted that man up pretty good. It's people like that, that makes the general populace a little nervous about policeman. Then they wonder why a person decides to bare some arms for protection against criminals and bad cops alike. :smt068
Bad cops ???? PLEASE !!!! Its amazing how when these guys violate other people and the police does whatever it takes to apprehend them, its POLICE BRUTALITY. But when these guys do something to THEM, lock him up. I have relatives who are on the Detroit police force. My cousin just retired from the force after 25 years. The stories they can tell you is unreal and almost all of it is black on black crime. The guy is lucky he just ended up with broken ribs and was caught by the police. If he had put his hands on TYRONE or JAMAL'S girlfriend, he would have been shot, multiple times. And most people would have said he had it coming. That is one thing I like about Detroit, you may think you are so tough and not be afraid of the police but street justice WILL catch up with you. He was VERY LUCKY to have been apprehended by the police, all he got was a few broken ribs.
