A slew of new video games are not focusing on cars, guns and football, but on fashion and style instead. Both Nintento Wii and DS have developed games with the aim of drawing in more girls and women into the market.

The latest to emerge is a game called 'Project Runway' made by Atari along with The Weinstein Company, who are executive producers on 'Project Runway'. Featuring the voices of 'Project Runway' host Heidi Klum, mentor Tim Gunn and regular judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia, the game allows players to design clothes for their models as well as choose hair styles, make-up and accessories, and then to strut their own creations down the runway using the Nintendo Wii balance board. Atari Vice President Jonathan Anastas believes the game will be a hit with the millions of fans who watch the show. There will also be versions for other consoles.

Nintendo are also releasing their own fashion game for the DS in their bid to attract girls and women to the market. 'Style Savvy' is due out later this year, and requires players to manage a virtual clothing boutique, choosing from more than 10,000 items of style.

According to Nielsen Media Research female gamers represent 45% of players in the US aged 13 or older. 'Project Runway' is priced at $39.99 on the Wii, while 'Style Savvy' will be available on Nintendo DS for $29.99.

    This sounds fun...

It's true. Most of the games are masculine. I still play them and enjoy doing so, but fashion stuff will be cool.
