According to the Yorkshire Post in the UK, local council gardeners in the north of England have been told they cannot wear shorts at work this summer because of the risk posed by "sharp shrubbery." Calderdale council in Halifax, West Yorkshire, said gardeners who wanted to wear shorts on a hot day would need to apply for special permission from a manager.

This may sound silly, but sometimes I wish a great disaster would happen, and we could go back to some cave man type shit, or at least extreme camping type lifestyle. This way, we could do what we wanted and if anyone had a problem with what you wanted to do, they could try to solve it if they so pleased...the censorship, the rules, the regs sometimes are just overwhelming...sometimes I feel even less free.

Slightly misleading title there as it's only those working for Calderdale council(according to the 2001 census, Calderdale had a population of 200,100 for a bit of perspective here) but yeah, we have lots of ridiculous situations as a result of health and safety regs over here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/7524526.stm

Honestly, it's stupid, but if money-grabbers weren't suing the crap out of anyone they can for anything they can, we wouldn't have to deal with stupid laws(or have peanut warnings on peanuts to laugh at).
