Damn, I saw some gameplay footage. Looks nothing like the old UFC games. true to the art, you can still knock guys out with one good punch, which is why sometimes it pays to learn what the block button is, as well as staying calm. if you rush into the fight, a good player will counter your punch or kick, and send you into lala land. I hit Shogun rua with an overhand right, in the beginning of the fight, as he went for a high kick, and he was done. block, block, block
dont forget another ufc event is coming this month we should get a predictions thread going (ill make one soon if no one does) I still plan on buying it tomorrow.. i wake up late, and the eb games near me usually get their shipments in the afternoon, so it'll be like perfect timing.
dana white's doing a midnight opening at a gamestop in NYC at midnight.. too bad they wont be doing that around here..
just picked up my copy today. I have a feeling the moves/combos will me too complicated for my taste but on the other hand thats the only way to make the game in depth.
the combos are just as easy to pull off as Dead or Alive or Tekken 3. Each of the face buttons represents a limb. You'll be throwing 4 punch combos in no time, especially since they offer a move list if u press start. The part that may get you is the ground part, as you have to rotate the stick a certain way, to get a better position, all the while your opponent is doing the same, so that he doesn't lose his or gain a better vantage. LET ALONE THE MUAY THAI CLINCHING lol that's another beast. you can pull heads down and hit em with a knee, or you can take the fight to the ground, out of a clinch.. and then there is sprawling for a takedown and takedown defending in general...and the usual knee to the head, to a guy going for a shoot.
just like tekken, as far as the face buttons.. which i love, because it allows you to create your own combos using individual limb buttons
taking my scrub through a ufc career... just lost to chuck liddell because i pushed the wrong key.. I rocked him and he fell down, which usually tells you to go in and punch him out...instead, i clicked the thumbstick and went for a submission, with a created fighter with a shitty ground game lol chuck managed to escape, get me on my back and kill me so close......... career mode is HIGHLY addictive my fighter's mix? Muay Thai and Judo
Played the game in gamecrazy today. Didn't have much time though, plus I was doing the tutorial, and that shit is DEEP. At least it plays hella different than the other UFC games. This shit looks fun.
takes a while to get used to the transitioning from from full-guard, to half-guard, to side control, to north/south aaaahhhhhh ! even if you take the easy way out and create a fighter who's focus is stand-up, you still have to learn the jiu-jitsu ground game speaking of which, the career mode is pretty deep itself. when you make your fighter, you have so many options. Not only are the superficial options deep, but the fighter's skill is also. I like to pour points into my guys clinching abilities and stand-up. Those Muay Thai knees are a bitch. ALSO....I just noticed that some guys fight like they would in real life. I had my first fight with Lyoto Machida, and he was very elusive and non-aggressive, like in his UFC fights. I see why guys get frustrated when they fight him. And Rashaad Evans punched the shit outta my guy as usual.
I cannot get an online match with my boy Thiago Alves for jack... I guess everybody wants to fight heavyweight. :-|
Yo petty. don't know if you keep up with game updates, but while watching E3 coverage today, there was an announcement of an MMA game coming out next year.
shit son, i dunno bow'd dat I'll have to look into it tho... MMA's starting to take off now, and lots of credit HAS to be givin to Dana White and the UFC... It's starting to compete against boxing, which I can not watch anymore, after looking at the amount of diversity that MMA fighters bring to the table but..as always.. if you REALLY want the MMA experience, get your weight up, get some heart, get some wrapping tape, and head to the local MMA fighter joint in your city. Have a big Rampage Jackson lookin ma'facka straight grizzlyin' your shit, like you smacked his momma with a powdered pimp hand
