For the first time since 1917, the United States has lost it's AAA Credit Rating tonight. What will this mean to the U.S. economy and to the other nations in the world in doing business with the United States?

What a double birthday gift Mr. President. The stock market dropped big time on your birthday and now you have AA from a AAA.

So what? I've resigned to the fact that worrying creates no solutions so let's see what they do Monday

I'm resigned to the fact we are fucked as a country with the coming rise in interest rates from getting loans to credit cards to mortgage rates. The U.S. was once a great nation. The politicians fucked us all.

How much you wanna bet Monday there's some kind of "meeting" that changes things. The rich have a lot to lose too if our credit rating stays low.

All great Empires have fallen. And the next one after us is...China? Please no....

I still think we will get this great country back on track.

This country is known for coming back in the darkest hour. The film industry is built on it. This is the time where patriotism counts. So fuck the blame game and whoa is me. It's time to make some sacrafices and move forward.

This is only for S&P. There are still other credit rating agencies like Moody's and Fitch who still retain the U.S. with a AAA credit rating.

And here, you can see Moodys and Fitch and compare them...

Exactly. We still have the biggest GDP and GNI in the world. We've only stumbled not fallen.

Do you think of the US as an empire?

I prefer the term "great power," but yeah, over time what goes up must come down in terms of the international system.

"Great Power" I would say is the modern saying of it, so your term is spot on.

I guess the only true solution to boost the economy at this point is to legalize and tax "it".

That would be a start. An influx of brain cells would help. Tonight, a woman I've known slightly for years said she can't quite support Rick Perry (already a big red flat - Perry?? Governor Goodhair??), but that's she's decided to support Michele Bachmann because - she's the most intelligent person running.

I didn't know whether to defriend her or keep her on my friends list for laughs. :smt073

The rest of the world must already know how stupid we are electing people like that. Then again, Geert Wilders would be considered a savior.
