I have a friend who is a engine mechanic for the F-22 here at Langley Air Force Base. He has taken me onbase to give me a close up look at the F-22 last March. Saw a demo of this plane and it was incredible. He also shown me the F-15's that they are still flying. I cannot wait for the next Air Show. I wish I had enlisted into the Air Force. He tells me that I can still come in at 27 years of age as an officer. Since I will be getting a Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering, he said I stand a good chance to come into the service.

I like looking at these pics. Love when I go to a soccer game near Buckley AFB here and they are doing formations. Fun to watch.

Do that...step out on a limb and do something that you have never done and is extreme...That would be the shit.

27 is still young man...once you start pushing up into your later 30s, that's when you need to worry....

if you went in at 30+, you will still be making good money and hold rank above guys much younger than you. Plus, it's the air force.

Mr. Pettyofficerj, I'm going to consider joining the Air Force. I have an appointment next week to sit down with a recruiter. I want to go in as an officer. My friends are telling me I have a good shot at it. They tell me the Air Force is looking for people with strong technical skills and backgrounds. My wife said she will support me. I would not do it if she did not feel it was the best for our family. The Air force will pay for much of my education which is important to me. Also I want to thank you for your positive contributions to my thinking. - Blacktiger

Thanks FRESH. Sometimes when I reflect on my life I feel I must leave the old behind and begin to pursue my dreams. It is an inescapable consequence that I feel insecured, scared, filled with self-doubt, experience a lack of confidence or even feel completely overwhelmed by the tasks ahead. I thank you also for that assurance to look deeply within myself and say "YES I CAN". -Blacktiger

To become apprentice in the U.S. Air Force only requires a high school diploma.

Thanks DenzBenz. I'm going to see what is available to me that the Air Force have to offer. Whatever that suits me I want a guarantee that I will get into the field of my liking. The aptitude tests will in large part will determine where I can go. I'm preparing for that right now. Thanks for the enlisted career information. I will focus my effort toward going into the officer career channel. If that does not work for me then I will decide whether to go forward or just stay where I'm at in the field I'm already in at the moment. Again, thank you for the input. - Blacktiger

"Now referred to as the F-35 Lightning II, the JSF has been touted as an “affordable multi-role fighter with precision engagement capabilities and the flexibility to conduct joint operations well into the future”. The F-35 is undoubtedly a highly advanced and formidable weapons platform; however, the aircraft was designed for tactical and strategic scenarios no longer relevant into day’s geopolitical environment. Additionally, the F-35 JSF program is essentially out-of-date and grossly over budget.
