There is a small similarity to that time. And it, too, started out small like everything else. And when it is addressed long enough and loud enough, people will notice. It is done in this country everyday.

And IL is the last remaining state banning conceal-carry. This last legislative session saw a court order requiring the state to enact a conceal-carry measure which the legislature is addressing during special sessions this summer.

As for apartheid, we don't officially have it now, but we did have de jure apartheid up until a few years before my birth, so it's highly likely that de facto apartheid still exists. The vestiges are still there. I listen to my mother's stories and I've got to tell you, the stuff they were put through sounds unbearable.

This is really uncalled for, TDK. Truly.

    Fine. You win. I lose.

    I'm just so done.

    Jaisee,

Thank you for taking the time to post a well-thought out rebuttal to my post. I appreciate the time it took you to go through it, and state your opinions, and not tell me I'm "full of shit". And the fact that you even agreed with some of the things I wrote is appreciated as well. So thank you for that. And if I wasn't done with this thread and this forum, I'd love to open up a dialogue with you. But, alas, my time on this forum is coming to a rapid close.

    Arch,

I appreciate the support you've shown for my post, but it's time to just let it go. I see no point in continuing to try to set up a dialogue with people who have no desire to even debate or think critically about other points of view.

It's their choice. I respect that. But if there's no room for a discussion with people who happen to not share your point of view, then this is a site that I don't want to be a part of anymore.

Yes, they did. I know in FL a juvenile is any one under the age of 18. Trayvon was definitely a juvenile at 17.
(Keeping in mind, it's not a hard and fast legal distinction in every aspect, since juveniles are often tried as adults, depending on their crime.)

I think there is an in-between medium. Most can see he was not a child - I have even heard "he was just a baby" - but still, he was a teenager just turned 17, even though he had the body of perhaps an 18-19 year old.

I think it should also acknowledged that their son will always be a child and to respect where their pain of losing their child stems from.

Now if his killer had been 17, I don't think anyone would be saying, "he's just a child". It's subjective, depending on the circumstances.

For a site that wants to promote racial tolerance, there's a couple of men here would aren't tolerant of any opposing views. Irony at it's finest.

I'm sure they'll make a white woman very happy one day.

You are including yourself in that group of intolerant people right? Considering you haven't contributed anything that could be view as positive in any way to any kind of constructive dialogue if that is your goal (which of course is not).

I feel you. Opposing POV's delivered intelligently and respectfully should always be welcomed on a Forum's news Section. I belong to a politics group and I will say, there are pro and cons on every subject discussed - Trayvon included - and while the discussions are spirited, they are never degrading or promote racial divisiveness. It just seems here that certain individuals either dust up their old ID's and come trolling, or log on just to check someone, or come to argue or take swipes...IDK, it's sometimes like navigating through a minefield to get to the worthy posters worth reading.

I hope you stick around, you're an intelligent woman with great insight into many things.

Well like you said the poor little white girl can't understand. If you had a woman on here blaming rape on women and at every turn making blanketed unfounded statements about women you'd feel the same way too. Btw way to be bold and stand up to someone making a comment about a bm. Hope you're around when archman does it you phony.

5'11 158? Is the body of a teen. Maybe at 180 to 190 he'd be a man those 30lbs count especially in a fight.

I think for a lot of women they dont get how much weight effects a fight especially since don't fight nor have ever fought.

True, reminds me that is was all women on the jury. That was not fair to TM at all. We guys know for a fact that weight matters much more than height. It takes some real skill to beat someone thats 40 pounds heavier than you. They will put thier weight into the punches and if they grab you chances are you fucked.

i agree...sometimes people take it personally and those who try are normally cool. everyone has their points. whats bothersome is there are people who tend to just be nasty at all times.

I think andreboda (sp?) handled most of it. (without quoting again)

And for the whole SYG posting - again, this was NOT a SYG case.

Books....no one ever questioned whether or not you can have or express an opinion. You have done so abundantly over time including posts about dating non-black men and all sorts of other things that have nothing to do with this site. Whether you like it or not.....the FACT that Trayvon was a child (legally) is not opinion. So scream away. Arch will be there kissing your ass every step of the way.

as for trayvon...was he a man or a child...

well his cognitive maturity wasnt that equal to zimmerman. if you thought back to when you were his age ....you would kick yourself in the ass for the things you done, your decisions and just your thought process and ect....

hell, if you are 50 years old you dont have to look back that far to say damn at age 40 years old what the fuck was I thinking.

so to put that kind of responsibility on TM is inaccurate at best.
