Oh yeah, if you model exemplary behavior, your 'white' heritage is highlighted. Screw up and it's somehow attributable to your 'non-whiteness', or at least that's how you're viewed by the public at-large.

It sucks being unable to help these folks in some way, and especially because this same crime could happen to anyone at any time. The only thing the rest of us can do is keep 'Sharing' and 'Linking' the story to as many people as possible to keep awareness at a high level.

C’mon y’al. Stay your ground, Castle law & conceal carry law do not apply to this nut bag Zimmerman.

It is funny how the anti-gun crew jump on this bandwagon & tries to push their agenda.

Stay your ground law means defending yourself whether on private property or public domain. It means you don’t need to retreat or run from a threat. If you think the threat is serious then meeting that force with a force, even a deadly force. It basically encourages ppl to stand up & defend themselves. It does not mean to be on offense, which clearly the case with this Zimmerman kook. He was chasing down the teen. You can hear Travon asking him “why are you following me?” In fact if Travon had a gun, pulled out & shot and killed this crazy Zimmerman, he would have been justified by stay your ground law, coz he was simply defending himself from this crazy Zimmerman who wants to be some super vigilante that takes matter on his hands and wants to doll out justice in the neighborhood.

To me this is a simple cut & dry case. Zimmerman is a murderer and he need to be tried as such. This is a 1st degree murder; he intentionally followed, harassed and took the life of a young man. That Florida police dept is garbage, what else do they fucken need?? They have the murderer on the tape. The least they can do is to try him for 2nd degree= Life, or Manslaughter=15 yrs. That PD is BS, this is the type of shit that brings race riots, this Zimmerman fucker need to be arrested, charged & convicted.

Sometimes it seems like so little but you have to fall back to the power of one. What can you do to impact no matter how small it seems?? I think for most it is simply signing the petition and passing the word. If one by one that signs the petition is a counted and in total will add up to more people demanding justice. Then it becomes power in numbers.

True. Daunting odds are no excuse for inactivity. And, as you noted, many small actions can amount to a lot, taken collectively.

American black kids getting murdered= good
Foreign black kids getting murdered = tragedy

    Didn't you get the memo?

The problem with so many of these American based advocacy groups is they treat crimes in this country as pase because they believe even if you're being treated like shit its ok because you're in the US.
Fighting for justice here seems to escape. Guess they never heard of charity starting at home.

I don't think it's fair to say they look at it as good. It doesn't get the attention it deserves, but I think saying it's "good" is a stretch.

When you see government agencies willing to cover it up or it going unreported you get the impression that people are in agreement with the death. It makes it really hard not to be jaded when you feel like the country you've invested so much into treats you like garbage.

he is on point with that.....look at how the police and the rest of the justice system is acting....that is a signal to us.

also people of all other demographics need to watch this because when blacks go through this they will get you next.

George Zimmerman father says “My son is a good kid, he is not racist, and he has black acquaintances. George is a decent kid who wants to be a cop and the media is smearing his name”

Of course he wants to be a cop, so this fat fuck burrito slinger who arrived to coast of Miami via Cuba or some Central American country one or two generation ago can freely carry a gun, harass citizens and be licensed to kill. And his father saying he knows & hangs around with blks, like that gonna change a damn thing…..You can clearly hear me saying these coons…..

The fucker was carrying a gun when he was not suppose to, the neighborhood watch duty clearly against carrying gun. He was following the kid when the dispatcher clearly told him not too. This kook was clearly looking for confrontation where there should have been none. This dumb fuck 28 yo Orlando community college freshman missed his Sociology 101 basic concept; he was tramping over someone’s right. Travon has the right to walk in that neighborhood. The kid went to 7/11 to get skittles for his brother; his only crime was being a black kid with the hoodie, this fat fuck Zimmerman needs to get the gas chamber.

I understand that you're jaded, and I don't blame you. But understand, not all people feel that way. I still think that many people would say it's not "good" but just not important enough to pay attention. Which isn't any better, I know. I guess one denotes an action in one direction, the other is inaction. But, the end result is the same. It just sounds worse when you write it the way you did.

I have to apologize to you. I have criticized you in the past because you always seem to look for trouble where there is none (but, at times, I do think you still do that). This case has opened my eyes and made me much more aware of how things are swept under the rug when it comes to the black community. I really struggle with this. As a white person, it grieves me to be associated (by my skin color) with people who give little care to the fate of a black person. I want to scream "Don't judge all white people by the ignorance of some!" And it literally makes me feel sick to try to put myself in your (or any black man/woman's) shoes to know these things are perpetrated against you simply because of the color of your skin.

I feel helpless in the face of such hatred and ignorance. I can't begin to imagine how you feel. :(

its not something you should feel burden by the act of another due to skin color. as we say in the hood "just because you are of my color doesnt make you my brother". however, all people should be grieved that this man is still walking the streets and have so much hatred for people of another skin color he is quick to kill.

that is the burden we all have on our backs because there are more people like him

And even the 911 police dispatcher told him to leave the kid alone! This right here is the problem with all this gun-toting vigilantism that is encouraged in this country. Let's keep the public pressure on until Zimmerman gets what he deserves.

I appreciate your words and its safe to say most black people especially the men on this board are well aware that its not all white people. Otherwise we wouldn't have white friends, girlfriends, and friends. Its just really hard not to be ouraged by this.

This is not a gun issue. This about a fat crazy fuck who wants to take matter in his own hands.

The Florida law is not a gun law. Period. It contains zero references to guns or shooting, unless you feel propagandistically compelled to count one of those ubiquitous legislative “Whereases” that references the Florida Constitution’s “right of the people to bear arms…”

"The Florida law is a self-defense, self-protection law:

It establishes that law-abiding residents and visitors may legally presume the threat of bodily harm or death from anyone who breaks into a residence or occupied vehicle and may use defensive force, including deadly force, against the intruder.

In any other place where a person “has a right to be,” that person has “no duty to retreat” if attacked and may “meet force with force, including deadly force if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another to prevent the commission of a forcible felony.”

Zimmerman was not in any danger or under any threat, he was the aggressor, he was the instigator, he was on offense NOT on deffense.
