in the south country music is almost part of life. You are going hear at least one country song all the way to its end once in your life no matter how hard you try to avoid it. my interest now, as far as ancestral Anglo-European music goes, is Irish, Scottish, welsh and old English ballads. Many of those who perform in this tradition travel to the states and perform with country artist. There is recognition of the links or foundations of the older Celtic tradition and traditional country music.
