She’ll find love clicks at EverSoPicky.com

A host of specialist sites now caters for the fussiest of daters. Giles Hattersley goes looking for customised romance

    Excerpt:

Lately, something very odd has been going down on the online love scene. As recently as 2007, a study by Match.com showed most Britons still believed internet dating was downright mortifying but now 80% of singles say it’s fine. This isn’t some windy theory. There are roughly 8m singles in the UK who, between them, went on 18m first dates last year. A jaw-dropping 68% of these were fixed up online.

Having shrugged off the assumption that the average singleton who is logging on for love still lives at his parents’ house, internet daters are getting picky. Bizarrely so. Although catch-all sites such as Match.com and mysinglefriend.com have reported bumper increases in profits, a new buzzword has emerged: niche.

Mad might be a better term. Women Behind Bars introduces applicants to the finest of America’s lady crims while EquestrianSingles.com brings the horsey set together. If you’re looking for Mr Far Right why not try Single Conservative Dating? WhiteWomenBlackMen.com is, of course, self-explanatory.

“The online dating customer has become more savvy,” explains Amanda Christie, managing director of mysinglefriend.com, a site whose unique selling point is that people post gushing testimonials for their love-lorn pals.

“If you’re just on a singles site you’ll find out pretty quickly that one size doesn’t fit all. What you want is to meet people like you. It’s the natural progression.”

The sites biggest mention so far has been on (NPR) National Public Radio a while back.

I've also seen it mentioned in some regional online newspapers like The Columbus Dispatch and on a ton of blogs, the biggest one being TheHuffingtonPost.com -- (though not always in a good way).

Great. We're put in the same category of Conservatives, people obsessed with horses and female criminals.
