If that's what she's doing, then yes it absolutely is. Just as if you apply it to older woman and younger man, it's every bit as creepy. However I don't think we should apply that to everyone in a relationship involving a notable age difference (defined as 10 years or more difference). For example, I am something like 15 years older than you and were I in a relationship with you I can assure you it would not be because I was trying to create a mother-son type of bond.
Only an American would call a relationship like this, "creepy." :smt083 What that usually means is they're jealous about something.
I suggest you go back and read the thread to allow you to appreciate the comment in its proper context. Comments considered out of context are meaningless, whether made by an American or not. I swear sometimes it seems like all you get done is pointing out the obvious.
update: tiki let go from the "today" show Former New York Giant Tiki Barber has been dropped from his contributor's role on NBC's "The Today Show." The New York Post reported Wednesday that Barber was quietly let go in May as a reporter on the morning news program, a job that paid $300,000 annually. FanHouse reported that Barber's contract with NBC Sports to serve as a reporter on the network's coverage of the NFL, was not renewed when it expired earlier this year. Barber left his wife of 11 years earlier this year reportedly for a 23-year old former NBC intern. Barber's wife, Ginny, delivered twin girls in May, and the couple is reportedly locked in the throes of a messy divorce. The Post cited sources saying that the sides have lobbed charges at each other, with Tiki Barber contending that Ginny Barber's alimony and child support demands are for as much as $150,000 a month, a figure that sources close to Ginny Barber deny.
do you really think Tiki needed that gig on the Today show? Unless he's as dumb as Michael "we still love you" Strahan, he's still setup for life due to his NFL career which paid him millions. The guy's a household name.
an idol mind is the devil's playground...tiki may be a household name but the conversation that comes after his name is no longer the same...lawrence taylor was a household name...if he has so much money why pursue a "today" show gig? if he has so much money why pursue NBC sports gig? it's not about the money petty...these type of men flounder when they are not in the limelight...what's next for him? dancing with the stars...where all old football players go to get their last 15 minutes of fame:neutral:
Amazes me how these pro athletes go broke.... He made more money than many of us will see in a lifetime WTF it's hammer time?
I just read a long article in Sports Illustrated about why so many pro-athletes go broke. They get talked into financing "inventions", restaurants, all kinds of crap. The bottom line is they trust the wrong people with their money.
Reminds me of something my grandfather used to tell me - "If your accountant can count, and you can't count, you won't have anything left to count." It's never wise to turn everything over to someone else to handle, you should always keep an eye on what they're doing, especially with your money.
Exactly! There was one athlete (a young guy) who gave someone else complete POWER OF ATTORNEY over everything. He never saw a bill, he didn't want to be bothered. I think in the article they talked to the Dad who was trying to get that changed. I really think that all athletes should be given a set amount of money per year and then when they retire, based on their performance, THEN they can get the millions upon millions that they've EARNED for their performance. That why, they're forced to work for it, and by the time they get the riches, they should be a little more mature to handle that kind of money. But, hey, that's just me.
They actually have financial advisors for rookies. A buddy from grad school works a sports agent firm that specializes in that. Guys going into the game today know better. Truthfully they shouldn't have access to at least a quarter of their money
It doesn't mean they're honest. But yeah, I think it's finally getting better. But this article I read covered a long range of athletes, some of whom have been retired for quite some time.
I would think alot of athletes think they will have a long career. They never think they are the one who will get sacked or have a career ending injury. One of the Broncos, Ashley Lelie, lived around the corner from here. He had an ordinary house one of the smaller in the neighborhood and his mother lived with him. The only apparent splurges were two very expensive vehicles. He was very impressive in the way he was so responsible with his money. I have seen other pros around here who wanted it all and now only to lose their contracts and be in trouble.
Unforunately for a lot of these people they grow up with little and don't have any idea how to manage having a lot. Its very overwhelming.
