As opposed to allowing....by BLATANTLY, WANTONLY, & OPENLY EXHIBITING, TOLERATING, & PERPETUATING.... THIS type of image: http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2007-04-16-ghetto-nation_N.htm Which -- for OBVIOUS reasons -- is destined to spell DOOM for our Black American Youth in the LONG run! Even NOW, at MY age....I'm STILL approached by a misguided individual or two (Here in Europe as well as Stateside) in regards to : "Are you some kind of rapper"? Even though I always am attired in Turtleneck Sweaters, Boot Cut Jeans, Wolverine Boots...and NO jewlery..OOP! I mean "bling".. Even at MY age! (30-something..) I think it's ONLY because I wear nearly ALL black attire and large, dark glasses...(prescription, mind you!) Still....I wonder... I really DO.. Just WHERE is all of this TAKING us as a SOCIETY? And I DO mean ALL of us.... :?: OpinionsCartoonStudios@yahoo.co.uk
Frankly I believe the whole ghetto fabulous culture is on the way out. We've seen it all before in Punk and Grunge and a number of other so called lifestyles based around “art” [I have to hit myself over my head when I use art and hip hop in the same train of thought] Anyway, In the beginning Hip Hop did speak for a class of people who were more marginalize than others but the entire “self worth is equal to material goods” meant that it was doomed before it started. I do think that Hip Hop like Rock and Roll, sold out to corporate America therefore I could never respect it as a true art form or lifestyle but it is all about the “Benjamins”. What we are seeing now as in the case of Pimp Juice, is a rush of corporations and individuals trying to cash in before the “Hip Hop” cash cow gets its final case of Mad Cow Disease. Some people are stupid enough to take it as something real but the death of the ghetto fabulous lifestyle cannot happen fast enough for me.... There are some things worth more than money after all.
Yep... I agree there, Pardner.... As KIRK said to SAAREK : "...the cost would have been my soul!" ("STAR TREK II : The Search For Spock") OpinionsCartoonStudios@yahoo.co.uk
