How can anyone be this thick, this blind to history and to their own privilege??? (and the photos at the site are very jarring)

    I THEE DREAD
"Colonial"-Themed Wedding Included Authentic All-Black Servant Staff
Dodai Stewart — A tipster urged us to take a look at the wedding photos of Dave & Chantal, who got married in April 2010. The theme of the event? Colonial Africa. Wait, what?
The bride interpreted the "Out Of Africa" aesthetic with vintage accessories:

Antique travel chests, clocks, globes and binoculars and an awesome Zebra skin. Dave and Chantal did it right. They hired actual colonial pieces from a prop-house that we put them in touch with in Pretoria. It was truly authentic.

Yes, "truly authentic" in that an all-white crowd was waited on by an all-black staff of servants. Some of the images — like the large one above — are truly unsettling. The caption seems to be: Remember how great it used to be when our people oppressed brown people? Good times.

Before you rush to defend a bride's right to celebrate her nuptials and the very concept of love in any way she chooses, consider this: The ceremony took place in Mpumalanga, South Africa. You know, South Africa, where there's a history of Dutch and British infiltraton. Where colonists imposed foreced migration. Where segregation and apartheid tore people from their homelands. Isn't history fun? Let's pose with guns!

These people have a severe neurological disorder. I'm VERY convinced. Either those people were paid extremely well to have their dignity shot off, or that they didn't get the memo that Mandela made a lot of changes to prevent shit like this from happening.

The joys of blissful ignorance and these lunatics ought to get their just desserts.

    Same here,

I see nothing wrong here, black men approach me all the time to call them jig and spook in the bed room. In fact, I have seen several BM posters here looking for WW to call them a nigger during intercourse. So it is fine by me and my coon tap dancers.

    Yours truly,

I really stopped being shocked at the shit that some white people do.

James Baldwin said "being white means never having to think about it", so meh....

...but what I want to point out is that the photography as freaking AMAZING! WOW!

I know, I was making a joke that didnt work very well. I guess you'd have to know more about MS for it to make sense.

Maybe I'm weird, but I think all that theme crap distracts from the actual wedding.

I cannot imagine a circumstance under which I'd end up married again, but if I did, it would be me and the guy and the JP and legally required witnesses period.

It's not about *getting* married, it's about *being* married.
