Sometimes when people think of nerd, all sorts of negative stereotypes come about. Commonly, we would think nerd equates to men who like to play World of Warcraft, fat, and eating Cheez-It® snacks all day. Or someone with no fashion sense and would wear pocket watches and be into science fiction and lack any dance skills. But truth be told, nerds are more of your cool natured programmers, software makers, doctors, engineers, etc...and so the barrier of nerds sort of diminished since we now give greater appreciation to those who are intelligent and capable of deliver scientific advances. But, in the cusp of it all, we still have people who'd rather place greater favor being a basketball player or entertainer than somebody who could solve complex mathematical theories. The coolness factor in other words. And yet, that's even being blurred by a long shot.
yeah when i grew up if you spoke good english they will say you are trying to spund white. so you had to be undercover smart. i really blame that on the parents for not installing hard academic values
I suppose it depends on the environment. Granted, even if you were encouraged to get the best education, there were levels of being ostracized for "forgetting where you came from." Even to this day, it puzzles me dearly.
yeah i heard they still say " you trying to be white" statements when you are trying to get your education on. its a shame
