Yet another disappointing year movie wise. There have good movies out but you have be a super sleuth to find them or wait till they go to video and hopefully your local movie rental store or net flix has them.

The comic book movies- Superman, X-men 3.

Though many feel that X3 was a disappointment i found it a decent popcorn and soda flick. yeah it rearranged the comic storyline of the Phoenix and killed off two of the main characters but hey they also made Wolverine one of the first principle Xmen and turned Iceman and Angel into teens. So it was a decent flick.
All of fandom had Superman in it's cross hairs long before the movie came. One of the many mistakes they made was the costume which i think they should have done away with and also going back to the whole introduction of Superman. If you don't know superman's origins by now then you just don't need to know. It worked for Batman b/c no one, not even comics that much, has delved into the formative years of batman. They focus on the psychological twist that a fully grown Dark knight may or may not face.
I heard that Pirates was a yawn feast.
    Descent looks good.
No one went to see A Scanner Darkly.
The Davinci code was panned by credits and by a lot of fans of the book but it made its money in the long run.
Miami Vice, had early rumblings of it being a flop, a big mess doomed but is doing good at the box office.
Little Man had its funny parts but i was dam pissed when i left the theater office.
    Oh and Mission Impossible 3.

what can i say about the hype, i think that part of the summer movie season is actually better than some of the movies to tell the truth. From buzz and teaser trailers your mind creates stories that get you excited to see actualized. If it isn't better than that internal story you've developed then the film is for the most part doomed to fail.

Oh yeah FEARLESS, with Jet Li looks Killer. My mind is already at work building fight scenes and character sketches.

The only movie I saw was the Devil Wears Prada! And I LOVED IT! I would love to see it again! It is such a chick flick but I recommend it. The actor in it is gorgeous!!!! And of course the clothes and shoes and bags AWESOME!!!!!!! :D

Pirates was a yawn.. if you see it, keep in mind the last 20 minutes of the movie is ok.. it will get you through everything before it..

I'm a huge Xmen fan and wasn't disappointed in X3, although X2 will always be my favorite. I didn't like what they did with Rogue, but.. since the end shows things reverting.. its ok.. I also didn't like Shadowcat so much with Iceman.. since you know she is supposed to get with Colossus.. lol.. (big shadowcat fan here)

I though Superman was ok.. I was set up to be disappointed, so I think that helped. It ended up better than I thought it would be.

Ya'll have to remember that the point of the Summer season for Hollywood is to make special-effects laden films designed to get people into those theater seats. Both of those superhero movies did that.

With Superman, I didn't see anything I had before. Of course, my favorite will always be the original with Christopher Reeve, so that should tell you something. Going digital did give the writers more to work with as far as flight scenes and his other powers. But seriously, nothing new with his mission or take on the word. And sorry to say, as much as I like Kevin Spacey as an actor, he can't hold a candle to Gene Hackman's Lex. That LL was defiant and indignant, but had the brilliance to back it up. This Luthor seemed to be going though the motions of what was expected of his personality. Overall, still liked Superman.

Now X-Men however is another story. I'll just say for the length of the movie, they were never going to get to do everything they wanted or get to see many of the mutants we all wanted to see. In my opinion, the movie focused too much on introducing everyone new (Shadowkat, Colossus, Juggernaut) then getting to the climax rather than letting individual characters develop on their own. But I remembered that this was a movie designed to be no more than 2 to 2 and a half hours. In reality, this venture should have been a Sci-fi action/adventure series rather than a Hollywood movie. But again, just my opinion.

By the way, not to be premature, but I saw a sneak peek of the third Spiderman movie and it looks like the direction will be Spidey dealing with an alter-ego of himself (hence, a dark spiderman). Sounds a little to me like a "Venom" scenario but we'll soon see.

I thought X-men 3 was great. After i saw it, i couldn't stop thinking about it, and it made me want to see a part four. If that's what they intended to do, to make the audience long for answers to what they were seeing, then they surely succeeded with me. Like QSSassy, i've been the biggest X-men fan my whole life (with my favorite characters being Wolverine, Cyclops, Sabretooth, Morphe, Gambit, Cable, etc...). Actually, i loved all 3 X-men movies. Sure, the third movie absolutely did not stick to the comic book, but i thought that's what made it good.

If it stuck to the comic book, or even to the cartoon, i would have known what to expect, but because it didn't, it kept me on the edge of my seat.
I know that Juggernaut is NOT a mutant, and i know that Cyclops should never have been killed, but man, it was entertaining though. I don't mind seeing some of the good guys get their butts handed to them every now and then. :smt062 And the Phoenix.... wheeew, that was awesome! I wanted her to be powerful/unstoppable, and she was both. :smt071 :smt072

The last scene when Wolverine's skin started peeling off as he was trying to stop her, that was definitely classic. It sucks that i missed the part after the credits roll when they show that the professor didn't actually die, but i don't think that Cyclops actually died either because they never showed his body, only his glasses.

I still haven't seen Superman, but i think i'll just wait for it to come out on DVD. The Descent totally sucked..... and if Spider-Man 3 is gonna have Venom as the villain, i'll be the first one in line to see it.

oh yeah.. I was so glad to have been warned by someone from the east coast premier day to stay through the credits of X3... wow. it was so worth it!

and one more thing.. I wish too the movie followed the comic story line.. but you know they don't..

and Juggernaut since he wasn't a real mutant, wouldn't have been stopped by the powers of the 'boy'.. so if you think about it deeply.. that is a hole in their story.. but I still loved it..

X3 was supposed to be the swan song but i think there are a lot of people pushing for and x4. Wolverine spin off has satisfied everyone to a point but if it sucks then the cry for another xman movie will begin again.

Liked shadow cat myself. Liked big C to till they brought him back in the comics. Glade they killed jean Grey but they will be bringing her back again i bet.

Hell yeah. If they make a 3rd SUPERMAN movie, then it'll sell out day after day as long as it in the theaters.

I also wonder if the Lizard is going to make an appearance in Spider man 3.
He was in the second one briefly. As most comic book readers know, Dr. Conners (Peter's one armed professor) becomes the Lizard.
